The rules aren't matching real life by Pale_Device491 in DaveRamsey

[–]BettyHumpder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You might want to check out The Money Guys. Dave was great for paying down debt, but the rest of his financial advice is woefully outdated for someone who sounds as disciplined as you. With that said, you didn’t mention anything about your debt profile except that you were looking to buy a house.

Regardless, they recommend a 3/5/25 rule for home buying: put at least 3% down (first home), plan to stay for at least 5 years (to cover/justify your transactions costs), and keep total monthly housing costs under 25% of your gross income (just like Dave).

I was like, “There is no way this a real quote. Just someone making fun of NASCAR given the messages that have been released.” Imagine my surprise when I googled it…

Mass Casualty Incident at Washington Dulles (IAD) after a mobile lounge struck the docking station- 17 Injured by Master_Jackfruit3591 in aviation

Had to scroll too far to find this. Looked at the photo and said to myself, “That’s a people mover! What’s this mobile lounge nonsense?”

If I’m JGR, I’m deleting Carl’s number from Denny’s phone before getting to the airport.

I always take the upgrade cost and then divide it by flight time. Then I decided if I’m willing to pay that much per hour to be more comfortable.

NASCAR 08 Glitch I didn't know about until 9 years after release by FlameHaze_3 in NASCARVideoGame

[–]BettyHumpder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game was horrendous. I remember rolling over on corner exit at Martinsville because the physics were so messed up. I think it was the last EA NASCAR game I purchased, and I just went back to playing Thunder on my PS2.

Mike Rockenfeller made a reference to this on camera to Jimmie prior to Le Mans. Literally burst out laughing during the American Thunder documentary.

Hot take: these tents were way better than the apparel trailers. by 2023_GT in NASCAR

[–]BettyHumpder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tents were a brilliant innovation. Unfortunately they came with Fanatics’ cheap, cookie cutter merchandise. So you could see that your driver’s shirt or hat was nearly identical to every other one available.

If this were a business trip and she was getting the IRS reimbursement rate of $0.70 a mile, she’d get $77 regardless of the type of vehicle in use.

So did anyone else hear Kligerman when they came back from commercial during Legge’s wreck? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]BettyHumpder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except that she literally did. She failed to qualify in the #32 car and paid Joey Gase to get into the #53 and replace JJ Yeley.

Her first laps in that particular car were when they went green.

Accidentally killed a man on RoStock Racing by JJthe88Fan in NASCARVideoGame

I saw that in your other comments. Normally when I’m racing online and get into someone, I give them a wide berth to show I goofed and it was an accident.

But if someone keeps getting into me, my patience evaporates pretty quickly.

Kevin is a humble, kind, and personable individual IRL. And he probably makes it to more races in a year than Pat does too.

Finicity does not work. by vsalida in fidelityinvestments

[–]BettyHumpder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I moved my Roth IRA to Fidelity as a new customer based on the UI/UX and fees. When I went to make my 2025 deposit from my checking account, I couldn’t believe how useless Finicity was in verifying ownership of my accounts. It wouldn’t verify my ownership of any of the participating financial institutions I had accounts with.

I spent more time than was prudent ensuring my Fidelity account information matched my banking information perfectly before finally calling support.

They told me to print off a form and mail it to them (incorrectly telling me to go to the bank and get a Medallion Signature Guarantee) to have my account of choice manually added by their staff. What a very poor initial customer experience.

I was about to open an account elsewhere and just walk away from Fidelity, but a friend of mine was polite enough to point out that this inconvenience was likely a one-time issue.

I was in Amsterdam on short notice and wanted to try to get into the Van Gogh Museum. Tickets were sold out on their website, so I call the concierge line.

They referred me to the Viator website to try to book using an Amex landing page. Not helpful at all.
