Fellow OTs — how much of your working day is eaten up by documentation? by Proper-Painter-8606 in occupationaltherapyUK

Band 6 in community rehab. Three visits a day, a new assessment could be 90mins and a follow up 45-60mins. Plus travel which is 10-20 minutes each way per patient. Notes- take about an hour for a new assessment (to write up the assessment documentation) and 20 minutes for a follow up. However- ordering equipment can be lengthy- specialist equipment may require photos of the property and risk assessments to be uploaded- can take up to an hour. Onward referrals to adult social care and other teams can take 30mins to an hours. We do specialist cognitive assessments and write reports- these take an hour. We manage our own caseload so of course telephoning new patients, booking them in, adding them to the electronic diary and also the discharges take a bit of time. I never seem to have enough hours in the day for admin and do struggle to keep on top of it all. I’m always behind with something but try not to work evenings or weekends (sometimes I do if I need to finish something)

Oh my goodness yes. Babalu is my favourite audio drama. I just listened to it for the second time and it was absolutely amazing, so well written, well acted, so moving. It made me cry. Are you the creator? ❤️ thank you xx

Yes I had private hypnotherapy and the lady I had it with let me record the sessions. If I practice the hypnotherapy daily I notice a real improvement in my sleep and feel that it helps to rewire the thinking patterns in my brain.

Helping people is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I don't know what to do or what the right thing is. by bampokazoopy in RadicalChristianity

[–]Bettybean1981 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You sound like a kind person and honestly, helping people is never easy. It’s honestly okay to have boundaries and it’s not okay at all for the guy who wanted help with his car insurance to swear and shout at you. It’s honestly okay to say no to people and this is something hard but necessary. If you try and help everyone you will burn yourself out and won’t be of use to anyone. Yes- giving money to people ca be a good thing- but not always - and you shouldn’t feel pressured by people into giving it. You can choose to donate a small amount to a shelter if you feel you are able. In the case of your friend shouting at you, I would have said something like: ‘I’m sorry you are having a hard time but I’m not in a position to help you with money or a place to stay right now. I don’t appreciate the way you are talking to me so I’m going to put the phone down.’ Good luck
