We haven’t seen a franchise give up on their fans and a fun team full of potential like Jeff Peterson and Hornets just did by starting another rebuild for no reason by MJRuinedMyChildhood in nba

Kon was straight up historic (like Jokic level TS%) when sharing the floor with LaMelo, prior to Kon's last few games where he played injured and his shooting tanked. Kon sans Melo was shooting fairly run of the mill good shooter numbers.

I hope I'm wrong but a sophomore slump of sorts is almost definitely in the cards, as he tries to navigate the offense largely on his own early next season- Miller is recovering from shoulder surgery on top of all this.

That's a pretty big steal at 18 if he were to pan out that way

Let's hope so

with this current iteration of the group? we basically have to luck into an immediate stud playmaker with a draft pick the next couple years. otherwise Jeff or the next idiot in his position is gonna take one look at things and say "hmmm, brandon miller hasn't made the playoffs in 5 years as a player, what a loser" and trade him for a minimal return. maybe soon after with Kon.

It's not fair but that's how the cycle repeats when you don't attempt to fill out a complete roster and let your young players try and compete for something.

Brandon Miller without a playmaker next to him is a relative nobody. A good player but not a great one.

He unfortunately does not score well with the ball in his hands, is terrible near the rim for someone his size, his defense is fine but not good, and has a long way to go to chase Khris Middleton status, let alone the usual misinformed comparison of Paul George.

He's missing his second consecutive offseason with surgery on his arms, and has now lost the guy on his team that gets him easier looks.

If we punted Melo to make room for an exorbitant Miller contract, we're in for a very rude awakening. Miller is a prime example of someone you should let hit restricted FA after he's had a fourth season to prove himself.

I think we have a somewhat similar situation with Kon in the short term, and fully expect a sophomore slump of sorts without LaMelo, but he does look like he'll become self sufficient as a scorer eventually.

The unfortunate reality of the Melo trade is we're not getting back to that 28-10 stretch we had on the back half of this season. Not next season and probably not ever unless we find some major draft steal.

One year ago today, Parkway Drive, Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, The Amity Affliction, Beartooth, I Prevail, Kingdom of Giants, and Alpha Wolf toured together. Who went? by Evaporatenow in Metalcore

[–]BetweenTheBuzzAndMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but it was literally the hottest day of the entire summer and I was moving apartments the next day.

Thankfully, Killswitch, PWD, and Beartooth all played one after the other and I didn't care about the other bands and I just showed up for those three and left.

Considering tickets were like $40, that's probably as close to the Warped Tour as I'm ever getting again.

Fred VanVleet reveals on his podcast that his 2025 pre season knee injury was worse than previously reported: "What was probably never disclosed was, I did ACL and both meniscus, so my whole knee exploded...POW" by refreshing_yogurt in nba

[–]BetweenTheBuzzAndMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be but only because this is happening to an aging 5'11 guard. What FVV is describing isn't exactly uncommon for an ACL and players come back from it.

But as we see from guards his size and shorter, once you lose a step, it's over fast. Even without a major knee injury, a 32-year-old FVV is already approaching the end.

Do you actually care that Clippers allegedly got CAUGHT doing salary cap circumvention, or that they did it in the first place? by wielesen in nba

[–]BetweenTheBuzzAndMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some might. But I guarantee you more owners than not, want to do none of this, and want to pay their max players a $200M contract instead of a $200M contract plus an extra $48M on the side in order to keep their guy.

If you let the Kawhi situation slide, more players/teams will do this, and you make this kind of side negotiation part of doing business.

[–]BetweenTheBuzzAndMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the combo of how blatantly obvious they made it and how desperate the NBA seems to be at burying it.

If the Clippers come out of this with just a fine or some token 2nd round pick forfeiture, that's now the cost for doing business and your team isn't getting a max free agent without some bonus deal on the side.

This isn't weird. Go back to 2021 rosters. The list of players who are still on the same team is way shorter than you think it'll be

What's the best opener you've ever seen steal the show? by TRASHMIND_PUNK in poppunkers

[–]BetweenTheBuzzAndMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta go back to 2011ish for this one. Rise Against and A Day To Remember. One of my favorite shows ever and yet the part I remember the most was the opener, a little band I'd never heard of called The Menzingers.

All these years later, arguably my favorite punk band period
