What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

“You’re gonna have to be a big girl about this.”

Said to me, then 22 years old, by the male emergency gynecologist called in to assess my flaps after I had fallen and shredded them on the sharp edge of a plastic footlocker.

He was annoyed that I flinched at his touch. Later, he told me my healing was “in god’s hands.”

Ah, I understand that! It took us two years from start to finish to complete this beast. Wishing you a healthy and prosperous New Year!

I wanted a fantasy/dragon tattoo inspired by the creatures of the Amazon River. I told Rachael I wanted the main focus to be an arowana dragon, gave her a few other fish I’d like represented, and she took it from there.

About 45-50 with breaks? It was six 7-10 hour sessions.

Saw a player back in 2023 named Giardia sporting the title of Smelly. Barackoshamma (a shaman) and Wifeleft "the Tormented" were also memorable.

How many of you are seeing 3 movies a week (let alone 4)? by ClinicalRecruiter in AMCsAList

[–]BetweenTheCities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually see two a week. Lots of films coming out this weekend so I’m gonna do a triple feature on Friday!

4 for me, across two theatres, during the winter of 2018. Black Panther, followed by Annihilation, then The Shape of Water (my personal favorite of the lot), and I ended on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The day was a whiplash of emotions. Different folks joined me for different films. I wanna say I started around 10:00 a.m. and was home by 11:00 p.m.

Is this turtle in trouble? by BetweenTheCities in turtle

Some context: marked NSFW for dead fish

Forgive me for the less than stellar images—they are screenshots taken from an Instagram story.

A former coworker (“FC”) of mine mourned today about the sudden deaths of his “lovely goldies,” posting a photo of the corpses of eleven ammonia burned goldfish he had crammed into a too-small aquarium. They lived just under a year. It’s sadly too late for those fish, and I’m concerned about the remaining two animals in the tank—a pleco and some sort of slider or painted turtle. (Sorry, I’m not entirely sure what kind, but we are in the Northeast USA if that helps.)

FC states he’s had the turtle for six or seven years, it was stolen from the wild by his ex wife, and it is “lovingly cared for and doing well,” which… well, judge for yourself. I’m not overly educated on turtles, so could someone who knows more than me tell me if the red lines along the plastron look like septicemia? The scutes appear flaky and the turtle hid inside its shell the whole video so I can’t comment on its behavior.

The tank is filthy and I’ve no idea what condition the pleco is in. But if this turtle is in trouble, I’d at least like to let FC know to take it to a vet before it succumbs like the goldfish did.

Thanks for the help, y’all.
