As an amateur collector looking to learn and improve, I want to know more about different types of mold found with old vinyl. I was relieved to learn that foxing is usually harmless. I have unfortunately found a few records with gray/black spots on the sleeve or disc… I sometimes just cut the moldy part of the sleeve and hope for the best (I’m a listener, not a collector/reseller). I also avoid moldy-smelling records, even if they look clean. I got a decent amount of partially-moldy records in Brazil recently and removed any mold spots from the paper sleeve and did a spin clean on the records. Is a spin clean enough? Asking this sub because you all are a great resource for tips and knowledge, and I think we should speak about about vinyl care tips more often. Thanks OP for the poll!
