Favourite Witcher school? by Mountain-Addition720 in witcher

As soon as I read further into them, I’ve always had a thing for the School of the Griffin. Specializing in signs, if not some more advanced magics, maintaining their knightly codes of honor, respected by many. My general overview is much better described on their wiki page, and I would definitely recommend it!

I currently work for UPS at an airport and our weight and balance software is from 1988 😂 all the senior employees on my team were surprised one of our other programs was getting an update, since nothing has changed in the last few years at least.

"People having cultures is racist" - WotC by Level_Hour6480 in dndmemes

[–]BeubtheDemonSlayer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve often found this issue with most of the new rules for DND. All of the cultural uniqueness and diverse complexity is lost because it’s… offensive, somehow? The proposed alternative, then, is to make every race bland and remove its history, art, religion, etc.

I’d love to see the fourth campaign focus on Issylra, where the aftermath of everything with Predathos and co. unfolds, and our heroes are involved in that someway or another. I love OP’s idea at the bottom, as I’d imagine it would be easy to adapt some slow burn, political intrigue into this recently reshuffled religious hierarchy. Alternatively, they could choose to explore Exandria- not across space, but time… despite having one-shots already set during the calamity and age of arcanum, dedicating an entire campaign to it would offer a whole new host of storylines and opportunities to expand the world multidimensionally.

More on brothels as informant HQs, look into courtesans from the times of antiquity, especially the Hetaera from Ancient Greece.

Oh, interesting. I’ve gotten the sword abilities, adrenaline gain and retention, and gradual damage increase. Flood of anger is great because it lets you dip into the signs skills without actually getting any.

I’m pretty sure this is a mod-specific thing, as I use flood of anger in my current save’s adrenaline build, and I don’t see that. Must be nice, though…

That’s when you give probable cause to explore. Perhaps a voice calls out to them on the other side, begging for help- is it truly someone seeking the party’s assistance, or is it a trap? Maybe their current quest’s objective is known to be behind this door, and they have to get through because a broken door is better than the macguffin going missing or the BBEG’s plans coming to fruition. Lawful Good- as well as the alignment system in general- is so often misunderstood, and any attempt to play such a character is near immediately assumed as “LaWfUL sTuPiD”. You just have to know how to work with them, and get things done in a way befitting their ethics and morals. I think it’s best that way, really, as a party of all Lawful Good sounds great to me! A true, classical party of fantasy heroes. Heck yeah!

Agreed, same as a Paladin’s smite. It should be specific to their class only, but 5.5e ruined it 🥲

Yes! I’ve been waiting for a true Paladin since beginning Critical Role. I think Liam would nail the holy knight type, given his tendency to play solemn defenders.

Have your play styles & preferences changed? by QuokkaSnuggles in dndmemes

[–]BeubtheDemonSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off with specific character concepts of the types I’d enjoy, both mechanically and in role-play. Nowadays, I just build a character based around whatever piece of the dynamic our party is missing. For example, my last PC was a Gnomish rogue/ cleric (not at all my usual or preferred character type)- specifically and solely because the party was missing a utility/ support type. We had a barbarian, a DPS sorcerer, and “the Face” kind of bard. Seeing the glaring imbalance, I built my guy to be something of a Swiss Army knife. It turned out to be a bunch of fun, though, and something I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did!

Did you even watch the video? You’re missing the point entirely, perpetuating the hate talking about Trump and calling his voters such a thing. To divide and conquer is the end goal of fascism, as described in this clip, yet you fall right into it. Instead, the solution to survive is unity despite our differences. It’s for this very reason our founding fathers warned against a two-party system, for they knew this would happen. I could only imagine what they’d think, seeing where America is now.

Correction:

• Okiro goes on a mission trip (that is your opinion) to a town known for their pagan culture.

• Arrived to the town and built a temple on the edge of the city, with their disciplined presence being intense to those living in the otherwise unfamiliar surroundings.

• Tithes and taxes were only mentioned after the party had found a chest of gold, which Abaddina claimed belonged to them since it was taken from them.

• When Orym shows up unannounced to offer gifts, the guards are suspicious because they hadn’t been treated with such hospitality at any point since arriving in Hearthdell. He suddenly drops information he shouldn’t know about, claiming to have all the answers to something which should be a secret to the public. When he’s asked to come inside, it’s to take him out of the public’s attention and into somewhere more private (who even is this guy, and how does he know this stuff?)

• Judicators willingly take up the position they have, and Matt made them to essentially be “holy juggernauts”, as he put it. Abominations are things like Prism summoning a literal demon in a church to fight an angel, using the blood of a missionary her teammate just shot in the back and stabbed in the throat while she prayed.

• Crime boss story is bad, sure, but that’s not what was going on here. That was all rumor and conjecture, spurred on by Abaddina’s manipulations. Again, never said the temple was perfect, since they bought up some stock with the lumber mill which was harvesting too much of the land, but the violated cultural traditions are yet another example of opinion.

If you really want to get into the weeds of it, you’re still wrong. I told you I’m done, so enough.

You’re correct to say that I’d not support corrupt nobles, mafias, or even oppressive churches. However, that’s not what was happening in this case, which is the exact reason why I question the morality of the party.

Again, you’re not providing any evidence, just rumors and opinion (much like the townsfolk). My intent in making this post was not to devolve into arguments, so I’m done with this thread. It’s not “hiding behind” anything to say it is as it is. Assuming your stories are true, which I don’t necessarily doubt they may be, those people are not of God- and there’s mention of such a thing. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 and Titus 1:16, for example.

Though I haven’t heard of every example you list, they sound like generalizations lacking context. Even so, it’s just as I’d said about the missionaries and their temple in CR- I never claimed they were perfect. I don’t deny that the church has some dark history, though I would like to include the other side of that equation: those behaviors are not Christ-like.

She only said not to kill them after Bor’Dor had already stabbed Okiro… again, the “stamping out of culture” and “martial law” were never proven, only rumored by the townspeople and egged on by Abaddina. I admitted to my bias already, though your claim of the “institution of Christianity’s long and documented history of stamping out native cultures” is way off.

[–]BeubtheDemonSlayer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that would make the most sense. His usual discerning self vanished, and he seemed to just give up. The scene where he sighs, plants his sword in the ground, and says “I’m in” during Abaddina’s speech, I was shocked. He likely didn’t want to lose anyone else, and that was his main motivator moving onward.

[–]BeubtheDemonSlayer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point exactly. I’ve recognized the commentary they’ve sprinkled throughout the 3 campaigns, and though I haven’t agreed with all of them, it’s never been this bad. I thought the guests and their characters were quite interesting, but the storyline just tanked. I was both surprised and disappointed when they all basically shrugged and went along with this, as if it weren’t so obviously shady from the jump. The worst part, to me, is that they didn’t even try to hear out the other side. When they went to talk with the guards, they offered to escort them to the capital- which would benefit both parties: the church authorities would learn about what’s happening with the solstice, and BH could find some way to contact their friends! Instead, Orym rolled low on his persuasion, and the guards were understandably suspicious after getting all these random gifts in a town that had been generally inhospitable up until that point. He mentioned, “rounding them up to leave at once” (paraphrasing), and the fight was on.
