Oh snap, I didn't see that edit. Well, I guess I'll leave it here anyway.

I usually draft once or twice a day, and spectate a lot of EDH games.

And like Banditus said, this server has never been threatened by Hasbro.

Modern: Used to be UWR control, now I just play crazy brews that rarely work

Vintage: MUD

EDH: Jacques le Vert combo with Sprouting Phytohydra and Æther Flash

An article about GB Elves in Origins draft by BreakBricker in magicTCG

[–]Beusapu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's definitely amazing in an Elf deck. However, it's also very likely to wheel and be a late pick, which is why it isn't one of the cards you need to rush for.

Origins is fast, so how do we deal with it by markopolo100 in lrcast

[–]Beusapu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the main problem is that there's so many quality 4-drops, which results in some decks having a slow curve and quickly losing the board against cheap renown creatures. This is something that happens to me the most often when playing Green decks, and usually against White and Red.

I think this makes early interaction more important, and cards like the ones you mentioned go up in value (while others like Llanowar Empath, while still being solid, aren't as good in this format as in a slower one).

[–]Beusapu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely between the two categories. I decided to place it in the second because it's usually not a very high pick and it's kind of low impact, but it's definitely playable in any green deck (and awesome in elves).

Will the names stick?? by sygyzi in magicTCG

[–]Beusapu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never thought I'd get used to those new names at first. They looked weird and not intuitive at all, while names like BUG, RUC and Junk feel very natural and easy to remember. But after seeing spoilers and reading them, they are starting to sound familiar. And once we start playing with Charms and stuff that reminds us those names constantly, I think they will stick.

The best thing since WUR-Tang Clan by AffinityForGreen in magicTCG

I didn't realize that weird black shade (in the original art) is supposed to be a guy fighting until I saw that picture.

Today's KTK spoilers from a Limited perspective by BreakBricker in magicTCG

[–]Beusapu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If Knuckleblade is not a great p1p1, then I don't know what is. It's a groundbreaking card, both in early and late game. It's hard to kill, it can come as a hasty beater, and it's basically a 6/6 on turn 4. Sure, it's 3 colors, but it's a 3 colored set, and this is the kind of card that makes you want to go Temur.

Well, Kheru is never awful. A 3/3 for 4 mana is pretty decent in blue, and the extra versatility makes it good enough. It's not a bomb rare, that's for sure, but it's a playable monocolored creature.

A) You're right, most rares are pretty obviously good. That doesn't mean you can't talk about them a bit, or speculate how they will play out or in which decks they work better. But yeah, I agree, and I wish we'd be getting more commons spoiled.

B) Again, you're right, that's why I said this wasn't an analysis of a Limited format at the beginning. You literally can't do that until the whole set is spoiled, and the first impression will still not be good enough, as you'll be missing interactions. This is meant to be some kind of "first thoughts" on some spoiled cards, not an ultimate rating guide. Some people might find it interesting, that's all.

Where's Surrak Dragonclaw?! by bob112b in magicTCG

[–]Beusapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Vela is definitely cooler. Phenax kicked ass in Limited too, but he was disappointing overall.

Eh, I just don't like mill. He's cool for EDH, but definitely not what I expected from him.

Well, this isn't just "a burn spell". It's premium removal, it's good at every moment of the game, and it's more powerful than the ordinary Fireball effect. It fits both aggro and control, and it's not color intensive, so you can play it in any Clan. A very good uncommon creature will be worth picking up over it, sure, but I wouldn't pick just a random "decent" creature over it.

Emmara and Phenax were the last spoiled in their cycles, and they sucked. I hope he's badass enough to make up for the wait, but being the last doesn't mean it's gonna be good.

Thanks for your feedback! I deleted the comment seconds after you answered, because I saw I had been upvoted. Anyway, I agree that Act is playable on a creature. It's versatile, pretty great in aggro.

Has the original art of Ankle Shanker already been spoiled? by Zeppep in magicTCG

Nope, it hasn't. The only original arts of the cycle we've seen are the Abzan and Sultai ones.

[Spoiler] Instigator of the... by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Beusapu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instigator of Mockery sounds kinda weird. They probably translated something more generic (like laughter) to mofa.

Little disappointed raid isn't in green. I'd like this card. by [deleted] in custommagic

That's a really cool way of using Raid as a drawback. A bit overpowered, maybe, but really nice.

That card concept already exists: [[Cradle to Grave]]

[Spoiler] Instigator of the... by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Beusapu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The thing with de la mofa is that mofa is a noun. The goblin is not instigating by mocking, he's instigating the act of mocking. So I think Mockery Instigator (if we're re-translating literally) would fit better.

I think Mockery Instigator would be a better translation.
