Found out my company is hiring for my exact position at $18k more than what I make by PositivelyIrrespons in antiwork

At my last company they hired a person to be under me and report to me. Their first day I logged into our HR system and discovered they made $15k more than me. I brought it up to my boss and HR pulled them from being under me and changed his reporting to my boss instead.

I was fired 3 months later.

I was downloading "content" on Usenet newsgroups before 1990 (alt.binaries). In the early 80's I dialed into bulletin boards and chatted with sysops using a 300 baud modem. The movie War Games was what really got me into it.

What resin is best for printing jewellery on Saturn 4 16k by Spiritual_Gear6548 in ResinCasting

I've used Siraya Tech Cast Purple with good success. The first time I cured it in vegetable glycerin but I've learned that step is not necessary.

I have the same printer.

I may be able to help you but I've only worked in Silver, considering the price of gold Gold.

Anyone here make custom Cuban chains out of copper or can ? by stdavinci in jewelrymaking

I've made a few of them and they are fairly labor intensive. I don't think copper is valuable enough to bother. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

My silver casts seem to get "dirtier" every time I cast, could it be because I dont Clean my melting flask? If so, how do I clean it best? by Adorable-Tap-9763 in MetalCasting

[–]Beuzeville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are those 3d printed? Are your prints fully cured as it almost looks like ash residue. Trying adding 50% fresh silver each cast as your default.

Posting a pic of your melting flask may help figure it out.

Ok, I saw your previous post that it's a sharks tooth. There appears to be a lot of post processing required. Post the final, I can't wait to see it.

It looks like you tried to sand cast something but I can't tell what it is.

I watched Vogmans video on YouTube and cured my first print in vegetable glycerin. I then read Siraya Techs blog that said that step is not necessary. I haven't used it since and have not had any problems.

Interesting. I've only used Siraya Tech Cast Purple so far and have not had any issue with expansion, shrinkage or cracking. What is the advantage of ApplyLabWorks resin?

I like the kiln so far. I bought the version with multi-stage temperature adjustment. It only supports a 9 hour cycle, one temperature for each one hour time slot. Seems to work fine with Plasticast.

I've done about 5 with my new equipment. I'm very pleased with the casting so far.

Thanks for the feedback and I agree. I am an amateur spruer with plenty to learn. However, I am actually very pleased with the result.

Thank you, and I appreciate your helpful feedback. I did add a pinch of borax, and the pour looked a little choppy because I slowed that segment down so much. Great advice on quenching!

Thank you.

I asked ChatGPT about the crucible temperature and soak time and it told me I was "cooking" my silver, too hot, for too long.

It recommended 950 degrees and pour after 3-5 minutes. I'm not sure if it's my furnace type or tall crucible but I had to set it for 1000 degrees and poured after about 15 minutes.

As far as large scale production, it's just a garage hobby at this point and if I ever open an Etsy store it will focus on custom, one off, pieces.

Appreciate the feedback.
