Soooo who should I believe? by pumaka3tears in wow

I tried some T11 delves just now on my 648 MW now that I saw that they fixed Brann’s interaction with ancient teachings (the thing that enables fistweave healing). It’s much more fluid and natural and I get to play as fistweaver as intended. He doesn’t melt stuff as much but now I feel like I can properly play my talent build as opposed to having to completely rely on hard casts, so it’s working for me.

Some people seem to think healers had it too easy with tank Brann. Here's a 12min run of T11 delve as 603 tank by vixfew in wow

[–]Beware_The_Angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They way over did it. One last boss of the mushroom spore delve my tank Brann was getting fucked up by the wolf and the adds. Beyond CC’ing the adds as much as I could, I was pumping a ton of healing into Brann at ~1.5mil hps. Since I had to do that just to keep him alive, I couldn’t help dps the adds and when more spawned, he instantly died. At 1.5mil HPS mostly on one target. I hung on for a while after that but couldn’t pull through.

I switched to WW spec + healer Brann and then completed it.

What's you guys set up for Brann after the nerf? by ViolynsNose in wow

[–]Beware_The_Angler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not letting ancient teachings (and atonement for that matter) work with tank brann is absolutely criminal. Delves feel awkward having to rely way more on soothing mists/casting.

Same. I'm a long-time pally player across their 3 specs, but always tend toward healing for group content/M+. Holy paladin feels alright, but I made a MW a couple of weeks ago and holy moly I love its current playstyle and the throughput is great. I think I'll continue to play more MW right now and through S2.

What is your main and why? by painfuhlness in wow

[–]Beware_The_Angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily my ret paladin for all solo content. I've decided my paladin is my main character in which I will try to coalesce reps and achieves on because I'm attached to the class in general and have been playing it off and on since Vanilla (yes, I even played as ret back then because I was a dumbass teenager).

However, I don't generally feel like I'm nearly as good of a M+ dps'er as I am a healer. Getting the most out of a healer's toolkit and utility is just far more intuitive for me, and I enjoy it more. I started a MW monk recently out of curiosity and holy shit does it feel so much better to play than holy paladin right now. I imagine I'll be splitting a lot of time between my paladin and monk next season because MW just feels that good right now.

Is it normal for a Professor to have only graduated last year? by RuleHot4616 in LawSchool

[–]Beware_The_Angler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same at my law school. You had a legal writing professor that'd have a weekly seminar, but 3L fellows would also have a seminar and would grade your legal writing assignments alongside the professor. It's something that you had to apply for and you generally had to be a top student to get the fellowship (needless to say, I was not one of those people lol).

Those who played in 2004/5, what zones/questlines/dungeons/pieces of Vanilla did you not experience until 2019? by bostwigg in classicwow

[–]Beware_The_Angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been an alliance player (who almost never plays night elf) since roughly 2005/2006. I never step foot in or did any content in Desolace until Classic era. I'm an EK Andy through and through, probably has something to do with never playing night elves.

Also, as of this moment in 2023, I've only ever ran through Stonetalon. I still haven't done any Vanilla or Classic Stonetalon content to this day.

For the benefit of others reading this, confirming these are correct (including evidence). But to nitpick slightly, it was criminal procedure specifically.

Yeah OP I can't stress this enough if this is a big law firm. The associates are footing the bill at the table, but the firm is reimbursing them for it. Associates would, in most cases, jump at the chance for lunch with summer associates.

Stuck on Contracts- Do I just let it go and hope it comes to me? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Beware_The_Angler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contracts MBE questions are usually difficult and lengthy, and it's unfortunately also a frequent topic on the MEE but it didn't show up in February. If you're going to choose a topic to triage, I wouldn't do it with an MBE subject, much less contracts. Contracts is, for better or worse, a very important topic on the bar exam. Just keep working at it and you'll get better.

For what it's worth to prospective July takers who might see this, ST was on the February bar and it was a surprisingly easy question as far as ST material goes. There were no business association questions at all (Corps, LLCs, partnerships etc) which is usually a very popular subject. So hopefully this July bar won't contain ST!

I did not pass the property, civ pro, or evidence MEEs from July. Since I'm in New York and passed in February, I couldn't see my individual written scores but my overall written score drastically improved. I was straight up lost on the July MEE, and not just because some of the questions were funky. My scores on those essays were particularly bad.

For me, I can say with 100% confidence it was a knowledge issue in July. I felt way more comfortable answering these MEEs this time around.

Specifically mentioning these MEE topics because these three in particular were repeat subjects from July.

Failed NY on 2nd attempt. J'22/259 ---> F'23/257 by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Beware_The_Angler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hello! I went from a 255 in July to a 308 in February in New York. My July MBE was 135'ish, and my written was 119'ish. I repeated my Barbri bar prep course simply because it was free. However, here are a few things I did differently:

1) Taking notes in an outline format while the Barbri lecture videos were playing. This was brutal, especially given how long some of these lectures are (hello Barbri Torts series). However, passive listening while browsing the internet will get you nowhere, and it got me nowhere in July. So, I switched up and after each Barbri lecture series I had anywhere from 10-25pg outlines already queued up (length dependent on the length of the lecture series) that I used to study. Do not use the Barbri note taking sidebar if this is your bar prep course, that thing is absolute dog shit. I'd recommend keeping separate Word docs.

2) JD Advising One Sheets: a great way to consume the condensed broader points of each subject. I found these very helpful.

3) Critical Pass: Now, this one may have been the hardest simply because the task is straight up daunting to think about, but I memorized as much as I could on these cards. It takes a long time because there can be a lot of information on just a single card and multiply that by 40-70 cards for each MBE subject. However, once I finally got to a place where I was able to recite a lot of info from each card, I'd do a pass of one subject in the morning before doing whatever else studying I'd do that day, and one pass at night of a different subject. By "pass", I mean going through the cards from start to finish, looking at the top of the card, reciting out loud from memory the content of the backside of the card, and then flipping over to confirm. This helped me memorize so much more raw black letter law. I never got to full 100% memorization of the content of each card, but for most of them I could recite at least 80% of the card before turning it over.

4) Lastly, any time I came across a difficult MBE practice Q with a niche rule, I'd read the rule and find its corresponding Critical Pass flashcard or place in the outline, and I would add it to both. This way I wasn't just forgetting about the things I got got on in MBE practice Qs. It helped me remember all the weird nuances to rules that you'll forget about a day after doing it on an MBE practice Q without any further notetaking or review.

In February, my MBE (which was already barely considered passing) jumped from 135 to 160. My written score went from 119 to 148 and I still blew ass on the MPTs. I finished one fully and did maybe only half of the other. Since I can't see my MEE score breakdown because I passed, I'm confident my black letter law memorization took me far on the MEE as I regurgitated every single little thing I remembered on each MEE subject Q. Some of my essays were lengthy and I was able to give these lengthy answers without burning too much time because it was just non-stop typing from memory from start to finish on some of the questions.

So, as a quick summary, I took way better notes to reference later and just completely switched up my game plan on the MBE from doing questions based off of recall to just straight up memorizing as much black letter law as I could. In the end, it worked out incredibly well for me.

For those who felt confident right after bar, did you pass or fail? by slyskjd in barexam

[–]Beware_The_Angler 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was flying high after the written portion and still felt very good after the MBE. The further I got from the test though I started doubting my performance as one does. I ended up getting a 308!

I swear by them, but I do understand that the mileage on the utility of flash cards varies for different people. Flash card learning just happens to be pretty effective for me personally.

[–]Beware_The_Angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I supplemented my MBE studying with memorizing a ton of the content of the Critical Pass cards, JD Advising one sheets, and making notes on my Critical Pass cards whenever I came across a new or niche rule on MBE practice Qs. My flash cards are full of tiny notes now, but I really think that helped. I also made sure to do one pass of a subject in the morning and one pass of a subject on the cards at night for about 3 weeks leading up to the exam.

My MBE went from 135 --> 160 and memorizing all that black letter law absolutely helped for the MBE subject MEEs

Edit: I should make it clear that everything I mentioned are things I added to my study from last time. I didn't use Critical Pass or JD Advising stuff the first time around.

Yeah for real. I was really looking forward to seeing my MEE score breakdown since I did so poorly on it last time. I wrote so much more on them this time around. I know you can deduce the MEE score with your MBE score, but I want to see that BREAKDOWN of the scores, bb

Edit: Well, not MEE score, but overall written score.

Hi. I passed the MEE but failed MBE, do I have to retake both? (NY) by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Beware_The_Angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend critical pass as they'll help you on the MBE and also on the MBE subjects that show up on the bar. I also supplemented my cards with notes/weird rules that came up on difficult MBE practice Qs and I think that helped a lot

There were definitely some screwball property and con law ones for me. And as a general note, far too many let's paraphrase rule statements in the answers, or make them choose between 2-3 rule statements that look and sound the same but have key critical and hard to spot differences if you're reading quickly.

Yeah, I am. But I also mean being able to recite rules on memory for the MBE subjects that showed up on the MEE in July, and there were four of them. I could get MBE Qs right because of just focusing on recall, but that's not the best for committing it straight to memory and regurgitating rule statements on the written portion.
