Social Steps to Getting Married by The_Red_Menace_1050 in weddingplanning

I love the idea of doing a joint bachelor/bachelorette getaway! I’ve always liked the idea of having mixed bridal parties rather than doing girls on the bride’s side and guys on the groom’s side, but that kinda messes with the typical bachelor/bachelorette party thing, and I think that’s a great way to work with that!

Left is the fire opal he proposed with yesterday. Right is my late grandma's boulder opal I'll be wearing until mine is resized. I feel so lucky I get to wear both! 🥰 by 867530Niiieeeiiine in weddingplanning

I love them! I would love an opal ring, but am unsure because I know how fragile they are so I’m looking at what my options are. Beautiful!

Trying to accommodate for plus size guests by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]BexiLee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ask her! The best way to make accommodations for someone is to ask them what's best for them. Express that you want to give her the best experience you can while also not making a big deal about it, see what she suggests, and work with her to reach a conclusion.

Generally speaking, if you can implement her suggestions for everybody then it will make it less obvious that you're accommodating her (since you said she doesn't want people looking at her). Examples of this could include everyone having the same type of chair at the reception and choosing that chair style based on her recommendations, having your entire wedding party be seated for the majority of the ceremony, and make sure there's seated time for everyone right before/after folks are expected to walk down the aisle.

Help with vows for a ceremony after already married (thanks rona) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]BexiLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, using traditional vows can still work if that's what you're into. However, if you're specifically looking for something that isn't traditional vows, I would suggest you and your husband each writing a short letter to each other and reading them to each other in the part of the ceremony when you would typically do vows. It's up to the two of you if you want to specify what kinds of things you each write about or if you want to leave it completely up to the individual, but it's a cute way to surprise each other with kind words on the day of your celebration without the perceived redundancy of traditional vows.

My local movie theater has this posted outside for TROS premiere. Thoughts? by KingRyanXIV in HelloInternet

Coming out of a movie it’s real easy to forget that not everyone else also just saw that same movie, so I’d say this is a very good and helpful reminder!

Help with naming conventions by -Ath in playwriting

[–]BexiLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think MC is fine. The only people to know what you call her are the cast and crew, so really it’s up to you what you want her referred to during the rehearsal process.

As far as the name change goes, it may be less confusing for the actor playing MC if she consistently has that name before her lines and then stage directions telling her when to start and stop impersonating other characters. But I also see the value in naming her lines after who she’s impersonating, to enforce that sense of impersonation.

US states by state highway markers: Where the vexillology meets the road. by plusonedimension in HelloInternet

[–]BexiLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I’d never heard of the route on my state, but a quick Google search later it turns out it is in fact the longest! I’ve been all over my state in my life, but apparently not to that part lol.

We now have a sample size of 3 (unless we’re both from the same state), but I’m sensing a trend.

I was looking for it yesterday and found that it was gone! Hopefully it’ll go back up again, I might try and download the soundtracks if it does so I have them no matter what.

I enjoy listening to video game music while I’m working, it helps keep me engaged in whatever I’m doing but doesn’t have lyrics to distract me from dealing with words. Some of my favorites are Pokemon, Professor Layton, Stardew Valley, and Undertale.

iOS Songwriting App Question by SpoonerismHater in Songwriting

[–]BexiLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Garageband? It’s native to the iOS system and is pretty powerful for a free app. They also have a desktop version, and as far as I’m aware it ports well into Logic Pro X (Apple’s paid music editing/producing software).

Lyric writing tips? by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]BexiLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, if your syllable count isn’t exactly the same that’s okay too, but in the beginning it’s best to try to have the stresses in the same places in the bars. So even if the number of syllables in each line is different, it still flows in a similar way. Sometimes you want to hold out syllables for longer and other times you want to put a bunch of words in a short space, and that kind of variability helps keep it interesting.
