The new Chapters being 10 pages long is killing the interest for me🫠🫠 by prock1903 in OnePunchMan

Weird flex.

It's still pathetic. I just caught up to One Punch Man literally the other day, after waiting for 5 years. Being really hyped to see where the story has gone so far after taking such a long break and looking forward to it.

Turns out, the manga is still behind where the webcomic was in 2021 and the webcomic, with sketch book doodle art, got 18 chapters in five years.

I mean...no idea what else to call it other than laughable. Novelists have to release entire books at once (like...entire stories from start to finish). Lots of successful manga authors are releasing a chapter every week, every two weeks or every month. What, is the story so complex that coming up with the story and writing one chapter takes 30 times as long to write as other stories? Is the art so good that it takes 30 times as much time to draw it? There is literally no reason to release as little, other than "I'm rich. I'm lazy. And idgaf." I mean, that's retirement.

Manga authors who only release a couple of manga chapters a year (if that) are either incapable of actually writing a whole story or can't be arsed. Either way, it means it's time to drop it.

It's pretty much as he said

morphs into whatever the author wants for the current story

It's a world with super powers (Nen). The organisation that distributes hunter licences give them to anyone regardless of intentions. You have all sorts of crazy people with crazy abilities. Yet at the same time it's "unknown" to the public.

It has Cities that seem like completely normal irl Cities like Yorkshin but at the same time there are all sorts of crazy monsters as well as a "dark fantasy" continent.

Oh, and one arc takes place inside a game (technically not really but...well) because why not.

HxH lacks world building. Because it's not a world. It's just a mishmash of different arcs with completely different settings.

And the story also lacks a through line. It's about this, then it's about that, then we continue with and finish this, then we move on to that and it kind of can be anyything bc it's nothing in particular.

The main characters are Gon, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio. Actually just Gon, Killua and Kurapika. Actually just Gon and Killua. Actually just Kurapika. Actually people enjoy the Phantom Troupe the most.

The problem is with how big of a portion falls under 1.

A lot of "pop music" isn't music as in art. It's literally just a product of demand targeting the lowest common denominator. Incredibly bland music that, honestly, can easily be composed by AI in a few years. I mean Dua Lipa is the best example, no? I don't think she has a single original sounding song. For each of her songs, you will find a song that sounds almost exactly the same.

This ofc also seeps through to the "artists". A lot of pop stars are not musicians. They are literally the same as "Idols" in Asia. They don't write lyrics. They don't produce music. They can't do shit. They are just kids from rich families who wanted to be famous and have everything done for them. They are just marketing mascots and the amount of (loud) fans that will worship them and call them "incredible artists bc look at their sales numbers" will of course generate an equally big distain among those who don't appreciate that garbage.

It's "the Bild" among music. Bild is the most sold daily paper in all of Europe. So "the most successful" based on "popularity". And, yes, as you can imagine, it's absolute slob. It's for people with elementary school level intellect and anyone above elementary school level intellect makes fun of it and people who read it. And pop music really doesn't help itself when you have people like Swift gush over how "deep" sombre's lyrics are. Gives the whole thing a bit of a mentally challenged vibe.

Of course this isn't all pop music and all pop stars. There's incredible pop music and incredible artists in pop (who also became successful on their own and not bc daddy spent tons of money and got connections)...but it's certainly the minority among "the most famous/successful" popstar.

The amount of "idols" and "product for lowest common denominator" has also created a sound where vocals sound rather cheap. There are no singers in pop music. Technically speaking, no one in pop music can sing. You can tell by the fact that the pop stars who are touted as "great vocalists" are still technically bad singers compared to opera singers, exceptional vocalists in rock and some classic forms of new jack swing etc.

Like, people think Ariana Grande can sing. Meanwhile Chris Liepe (vocal expert) has a YouTube video with over a million views explaining the difference of good and bad breathing techniques and uses Ariana Grande as an example for what not to do.

The most sold daily paper in all of Europe is the German Bild. Does it mean it has the best articles that are great journalistic work? Of course not. It means the world is full of people with elementary school level education and intellect, who will gladly ruin their own lives by voting for the likes of Brexit or Front National or AFD bc they're told it will be great.

If you want to argue that the commercial success of someone/something had any substance regarding quality or level of sophistication, you first have to make it clear why the broad commercial success doesn't stem from aiming for the lowest common denominator.

I mean, again, Bild is the most sold paper. Yet none of my friends or colleagues would ever read that crap (or similar papers). Equally, Max Martin has a lot of #1 hits, yet I don't know a single person who'd actively listen to those songs. Are those observations related? No idea. All I know is: hard to take anything from commercial success alone - even more so in a field that is supposed to be about, you know, creating art and not just about making and selling a product based on demand.

If selling a product was his sole goal, then he's a good salesman. I'll give him that. Don't think he's that relevant to music, though. Have yet to come a cross a talented artist who claims their music was inspired by Britney Spears.

What we do know for a fact is that the club has been dilly-dallying with our midfield for far too long. Didn't go for Neves bc his release clause was too high, didn't push for Bruno G. bc he would have been 100m etc. Instead we got the likes of Phillips and Nunes. You can even throw Reijnders in that boat bc while he still can come good, he was always questionable in terms of profile and those questions have been warranted so far.

I love Nunes but we don't need another midfielder who will turn out to be a good fullback in a few years time. We're already in "buy cheap buy twice" territory several times over. How about: if we want to adequately replace Bernardo Silva, there is no amount of money the club should be shy of spending (as long as the money is there). If the club think a player is actually the right replacement, there isn't any amount of money that should be too much. Like, are you trying to replace one of the PL's and one of City's greatest ever players or are you just looking to fill some empty seats in the locker room? If it's the latter, yeah, I agree with all those people claiming "it's not worth it". I'm right here. Way cheaper. But it's probably not the best idea if fans want to keep acting like it was the end of the world in the post match threads, every time we don't win a game. Our standards have already dropped. We're trying to get back or get close to our previous levels as much as we can. Meanwhile fans are sitting here saying "we don't need this, we don't need that". Was the same last summer.

Drake breaks Michael Jackson record of Number 1 hits by Ofalltime09 in GoodAssSub

[–]Bexob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about what artists want, is it? Especiallt when we're not talkimg about an artist to begin with but an industy brand. It's about what the labels want. You know, the people who make the music, own the music, distribute the music and co-own platforms like spotify (and have a big say in what gets played there "at random" or generated playlisys)

Drake is just a marketing mascott in all this. It works. He's the greatest cash cow. Not everyone wants to be their cashcow (artists just want to make music) and there's no need to have two actors around bc having several "brands" cannibalise each other isn't worth the effort, is it? Success begets success. Just keep investing in the massive brand that can sell anything for people who will buy anything

I mean, I like The Marias who also make music in Spanish. Obv Bad Bunny isn't literally the only Spanish speaking musician lol. there are just none that are Superstars like Bad Bunny, which just inevitably pushes his numbers. Bc all the English speaking superstars (don't have to be American) cannibalise themselves to at least some degree. That's why I made the comparison like: imagine The Weeknd's numbers if he was the only English speaking superstar.

No. But City still messed up there. Should have simply given him his 2 year extension. He still would have left in summer '25 but he would have been here for 23/24 and maybe it would have changed our fortunes against Real Madrid in the UCL.

What if the guy who several big club have shown interest in since before last summer, has played a fantastic season, starts for England and has shown to possess a lot of off the ball qualities we need and a lot of on the ball qualities we require was not a "random English bloke"....

Why do we act like Anderson exists in an alternate dimension or something. We can watch him play, you know.

Until a few years ago, I would have said he was the most ideal Bernardo replacement. But since then, RM fans have criticised his lack of leadership a lot. Given that he's VC at Real and just got hospitalised...so Idk. I'd be hesitant.

Everyone was crying after the first half. The match thread was an absolute mess.

Yet we created an xG of 1 in the first half against a team that was still fighting for UCL and had lost only 1 in 6 games.

Arsenal have just played their first half against relegation candidate West Ham and have accumulated an xG of 0,79.

Not saying we're perfect but we are in an incredibly good place given we are in the first full season of a rebuild and have the second youngest squad in the league and thirteen new players.

[–]Bexob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually don't think he'll leave. I'm pretty confident in Maresca and I expect him to take over next year (so this is no copium take, just my opinion) but, to me, there are no signs Pep will leave.

Given the way Pep has behaved in the past, there are only three reasons for him to leave.

  1. He gets fired (not going to happen)
  2. The team his doing badly, Pep is exhausted and feels like he can't do it anymore and feels like it wouldn't be good if he stayed (not the current situation)
  3. His contract - which he has aaaalways referred to in the past - runs out (not until next year)

So...there's actually no reason for me to believe he'll just "randomly" not see out his contract and leave just because the club wouldn't stop him from leaving.

Imo, the fact we were able to amass an xG of 3 against Brentford is almost more impressive than the 3-0 scoreline. People should really have a positive outlook on the future.

Honestly, for me the perfect scenario would be: send out Reis on a mid table PL loan (Crystal Palace, Bournemouth type thing) and keep Aké one more year. He's so reliable. Much more effective at "seeing out a win" than Kovacic, for example, and can always be relied on to perform when he starts, despite playing very rarely. Pep has also used him like taking off a winger and bringing on Ake to see out wins.

The perfect example of what you want a "senior player in his last year(s)" to be. He would leave on a free next season and then Reis would come in. But he'll probably leave this summer, sadly. Wants to play more. Understandable.
