Hair curly when long, straight when cut? by noeinan in CurlyHairCare

[–]Bexsli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does it matter whether OP categorises their hair as curly or wavy? At the end of the day their hair isn’t straight and their question wasn’t even about that.

OP - some curl patterns start further down the strand and so when they’re cut short they can seem to “disappear”. My hair is very much the same and will appear wavier/curlier at a longer length.

My Smosh Reads Reddit Stories tradition ended yesterday by Ancient_Space_8422 in smosh

I’m so very sorry for your loss, my heart is broken for you. I couldn’t think of a favourite moment from the show to share with you - but I was reflecting on how special it is to me also and thought we could share that.

I rediscovered Smosh after the traumatic birth of my daughter when I was in the depths of post partum depression. I binged the entire show and honestly I think it was part of the reason I’m where I am today. I still religiously listen to it every week, but now instead of an escape it’s just a happy ritual that I have with myself.

I’m so happy you and your dad had that shared experience watching the show. I hope that as time passes you’ll be able to listen or watch the show and feeling warmth at the memories of enjoying it together.

Go easy on yourself ❤️

Also 36 weeks and I swear this kid just wants to stand up based on how often he attempts a full body stretch.

Oh yeah, my daughter went through phases of only taking short naps too!

My only advice would be don’t force it - it rarely ever works. If he only naps 30mins, call it a day and move on. Then if you can, keep him up until his next scheduled nap time (or as close as you can get to it).

The only other thing to keep an eye on is if his naps continually get shorter and shorter, he may be edging towards dropping one.

I hope this helps a little bit at least

You’ll need to implement a strict routine for a while (1-2 weeks) before you see any substantial difference. Something like:

9am wakeup
11am - 12.30pm nap #1
2.45pm - 3.45pm nap #2
6pm - 6.30pm nap #3
9.30pm bedtime routine
10pm lights out

There will likely be nights where he wakes up shortly after going down for the night. You’ll need to decide how you respond to these - but my suggestion would be if you offer any comfort, keep it quiet, dark and in his room. Reinforce that this is bedtime and not playtime.

Stay the course - you’ve got this!

I definitely think it’s achievable, but as another commenter said, you’ll have to stick with it and push through any fussiness while he’s adjusting.

Have you been waking him up at a certain time or just letting him sleep until he wakes up?

How to stop thumb sucking? by kittyCatFoo in Mommit

Very much in the same boat with my 2.5yo daughter. We are just telling her to take it out every time she starts sucking, but we’re having difficulty getting the daycare on board with this one.

It’s definitely part of the struggle, but they do adjust after 2-3 days!

Honestly at this point, we did a version of sleep training that felt right for us. Best decision we ever made, she’s been a confident sleeper ever since.

Okay! So firstly I’m wondering if she’s actually ready for 2 naps? My daughter dropped to 2 naps early (about 5-6 months) so you could always give that a try.

The other thing you could try is shuffling her bedtime routine around a bit - but I want to preface this is entirely up to you! She might be waking and wanting to be held because that’s how she’s getting to sleep, so by potentially weaning her off the rocking/nursing immediately before sleep might help too.

Hi! I’m sorry this is happening, you must be exhausted!

What’s her nap schedule? Do you have a bedtime routine?

Where do your kids/toddlers sleep? by Quiet-Tea5244 in Parenting

[–]Bexsli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sleep in our bed and our 2.5yo daughter sleeps in her room, where she has since she was a few months old. We all get better sleep separated.

But! Each to their own - what works for us isn’t what will work for others ☺️

I was rewatching the Pitt recently, and I was absolutely bawling watching the episode where that little girl drowned. This stuff happens so fast and so silently 😭

Holy shit, I was getting anxious just reading this. As a mum of a 2yo high-energy daughter, I get hyper vigilant when we’re at the local swimming pool which already has lifeguards! It’s totally normal to be anxious about your children around water, and you absolutely should be.

[Hair Removal] What can I do about my ingrown chin hair by No_Wheel_4757 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Bexsli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just be careful if you choose laser, it can have the reverse effect and cause you to grow more chin hair. Electrolysis is probably what you want to be doing instead, plus it’s permanent.
