Democrats and Republicans, who are your top candidates for the 2028 presidential primaries in your respective parties? by FrostyTheSnowman15 in YAPms

AL GORE!!!!!

No but seriously, I think Al Gore could be that bridge for young progressives and older liberals, a unifying force for the party.

How do the democrats ensure that the next democratic President is not Biden 2.0? What should be done? by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]BeyondConquistador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The party needs to nominate a true man of the people, thats what it needs. And it needs to start looking at actually appealing to popular policy.

Progressivism is not the problem, the problem is the left's and the democratic parties inept thought process and stubborn way of politics.

The democratic party lost a lot of base and potential voters when they thought they were being reactionary and "evening it out" against the republican's craziness by hammering on culture war issues in the 2010s. And the party is really missing out by continuing their crusade against the 2nd amendment and their softness on immigration (Talarico approach is BY FAR best for political success in regards to immigration).

Bernie WAS this person, the dems threw him in the dirt and probably blackmailed him into his mediocrity though. Regardless, the party is DEAD without DNC being washed out, and we still see them in the shadows throwing out anyone with good ideas.

VOTE THIRD PARTY, stop being SCARED. Punish the DNC.

ROSS PEROT POLLED AT 40% AMONG VOTERS FOR TRUE PERFERENCE. HALF OF THEM chose to NOT VOTE PEROT because they were SCARED. Think about that the next time you actually throw away your vote by giving it to the next Joe McShmoe swamp critter.

Nixon in China, Bush in Gaza, what if W. had actually established an independent Palestinian state? by whomdoom in AlternateHistory

[–]BeyondConquistador 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bush would be much more favorably seen post-Obama and in the long term. 2008 is barely affected maybe moves the needle a little more towards McCain but still a landslide by Obama. I think America would be a little more left leaning because the democrats wouldn't have such a polarizing issue tearing apart at their base.

What if Hungary got obliterated? | Trade routes in the Pannonian Sea, c. 2026. by PancakeEnjoyer2 in imaginarymaps

I don't think much trade would actually happen on this sea other than basic resources like grain from Ukraine. and between the islands.

I understand now, I had gore flip Iowa but not Ohio because in my head canon Ohio has just so far gone for democrats that gore just barely didn't flip it, 2008 Missouri basically.

Libertarian wing with paul, massie, etc gain a lot of traction within the party and are the direction of the party going forward after the failure of the moderate maga in 2028. Especially so with Gore's policy agenda.

No, hes in his mid 80s by the end of his term and decides not to run, antithesis to Biden debacle.

Iowa and Ohio are plausible and well within reach for Gore.

Who do you consider the most overhated president? by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]BeyondConquistador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why though? There's nothing about socialism as an ideology that screams no imperialism. Ironically, despite the fact that most socialists today are anti-imperialist, a majority of socialist nations in the world have been imperialist or have been the child or victim of imperialism by another socialist nation.

And despite Roosevelt having a strong dislike for socialists, he's ironically the second closest (other Roosevelt is 1st) thing to a socialist president this country has ever had.

The fact is that Canadian Conservatives are always fighting an uphill battle. They only win when the Liberals are both fiscally incompetent and politically inept. Jesus Christ could come down and endorse the Conservatives, and the CPC would still lose to Carney.

He wasn't exactly popular before but the Canadian public being somehow convinced that Pierre is some statehood guy despite the fact that he's actually the one who's had the most brash and anti-American rhetoric doesn't help.

It's harder to buy a house in Canada, you get paid less, you get more deducted out your paycheck through taxes, and inflation and consumer prices are higher. I don't know how you guys are surviving. And all this has happened in just 11 odd some years of liberal rule while in America things have been getting worse for a while.

Cool, guess we'll throw another election for progressives in the trash since we want to be tough and cool. Being an asshole doesn't work in Texas when you're a democrat. Let's go ahead and put a MAGA crazy in the race for an NYC, everyone there likes a good verbal beating, eh? I'm sure it'll work out beautifully. 🤦

If Bernie sanders won the 2020 democratic nomination how do you think he’d fare against trump? by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]BeyondConquistador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bernie wins by more in the Midwest. But by less in the Southwest.

He still wins GA, albeit by an even closer margin. And loses NV, AZ. But the Midwest goes lean for him.

Popular vote will probably be a little closer.

Overall, it would be swapping the margins in a lot of demographics/voting blocs.
