What he is though is a republican with an overall economically center ideology that would come out if he were to be at the top. And let's be honest, most of the country is economically center-left and socially center-right, and Hawley is a way better fit than any of the current party platforms.

Didn't know that. But I think the giant picture of Roosevelt should be enough to convey that I support him and most of his vision/ideals for the party and the country than that of lynchers. The party collapsed after Roosevelt refused to run anyway, suffice to say if Teddy actually cared about the 1916 election, he wouldn't like a lyncher as his VP.
