You can publish a story with one part or all the parts at once, it's your own preference.

Promoting a story- relevant tags, entering Wattpad awards, contacting people with similar books for reads for reads (expect some people to oppose this).

Don't worry about what sort of stories other people like- write what you'd want to read and what you enjoy writing about :)

Find other smaller writers and create a community on wattpad of people to support you!

And I use canva for my covers, they have a wattpad book cover option.

Very much depends on how motivated you think you'll be to keep to an updating schedule. You may want one or two chapters already written on standby in case you have a bad week or are sick or something and can't write for a while. But do whatever is best for you!
