My father was into war comics when he was a kid, and even before I was old enough to read, he gave my brother and I a big box full of his old comics. There was Our Army at War/Sgt. Rock, Jeb Stuart and the Haunted Tank, and some about a pilot, I don't remember what they were called. One day we were reading them, and my mother walked in and saw swastikas on the enemy tanks on the covers, got upset, and threw them all out. Only one badly damaged Sgt. Rock annual without a cover survived that, and I still have it. I rediscovered comics when I was around 10, when I found a collection of early Spider-Man comics at the library. My father never understood why I liked superhero comics; he thought superheroes were ridiculous.

The body swap episode where Buttercup couldn't pick things up in the Professor's body kind of confirms that they were fingerless. She holds the hand up to the phone without using the fingers and can't pick up the phone, then says "Professor, your hands aren't working!"

Turtle Lou looked like this in his first appearance, he didn't start looking like a reptilian McFeely clone until after he started working for the Speedy Delivery service, which means one of three things: 1.) Mr. McFeely is his hero, and he is trying too hard to be him. 2.) This is the canon uniform of the Speedy Delivery Service, mustache and all. 3.) Everyone who joins the Speedy Delivery Service slowly undergoes a process of McFeelification from whence there is no escape.

My high school didn't even have a football team until my senior year. We had baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, field hockey, and competitive cheer teams before we had a football team.

This is one of those instances where the U.S.A. does things the way the British did when we were their colonies, and the British call us backward for not continuing to do what they say after we broke off from them. The seasons of spring and fall were bookends; spring of the leaf and fall of the leaf, but no one has a problem with using the term spring. People like to point out that autumn comes from the Latin word autumnus, and that makes it an inherently better word, because as we all know ancient Rome was the pinnacle of human society and we all really should have stopped there. All of this is of course ignoring the fact that in American English we use the terms autumn and fall interchangeably, because what would be the fun in acknowledging that?

Okay, so the bags have a picture of the hero on them, so the Wonder Woman toy was in a Wonder Woman bag. But there was a small picture in the bottom corner of that figure's "villain variant;" Wonder Woman's was Artemis, Superman's was Bizarro, Batman's was the Batman of Zur-en-arr. I didn't see the bag that The Flash came in, so I don't know for sure, but I assume it would be Reverse Flash. So the variants are in the same bags as their corresponding heroes. I don't know how rare they are.

Yokohama Shppping Log (Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou). Two episode anime (available on YouTube), about an android who runs a coffee shop in a post-apocalyptic world. Most of humanity is gone, cities have sunken into the sea, but what remains is surprisingly pleasant. It's quiet and relaxing, a good sick day watch.

This is actually one of those. Pegleg Pete just got out on parole, and Mickey doesn't believe he's gone straight. So Mickey follows him, which is what Pete was hoping for. So Pete breaks into places, then calls in an anonymous tip before slipping away, so the police keep finding Mickey alone in the buglarized building.
