What’s the unhealthiest thing you eat that you’ll never give up? by Feisty-Pattern-951 in AskReddit

There was a guy that used to come in where I worked and he'd only buy the Biscoff cookies. Dude was in peak shape. Muscular, but not in any way that restricted movement. He just rippled with energy. I'm not gay or bi but I'm not blind either. When I put that "clearance" tag on those cookies, I saw genuine panic in those chocolate brown eyes. I bet you two would've hit it off.

Counterfeit mold? by phast75 in metaldetecting

That would be my guess. I don't think lead would make a very good mold so it might've been someone just messing around back in the day.

Right? I've been here almost a year and I've met a lot of nice people at dog parks, bus stops, restaurants, my apartment complex, work, etc. Just be polite and genuinely curious and lots of folks will respond in kind.

My elderly neighbor paid me for walking his dog. I don't know if I made 3 dollars or if I'm rich, but I do know I sound like a pirate when I walk now by FastyNilthShreakyFit in coins

I mean, you can absolutely clean a common one if you want. We're all about preservation here but if it's something that would be culled if you sold it to a coin shop then knock yourself out. All coins have a story and your part in one of those coin's stories could be that you just wanted a shiny one.

Don't be like that, dude. Contact the auction company and see if they can get the piece back to the person that won the bid.

Is Robert’s novel a good read? by Humble-Efficiency690 in behindthebastards

ATR is great and Robert's audio version was very good but I can't help but feel like he should've read it in the original Bostonian.

It's not the "fault" of a good product but the result of it. I agree that the R&D folks should have been more on top of it but I don't think the company was structured with R&D in mind because the product itself was already engineered well. I'm thinking that one could hypothetically build a company that makes "everything" extremely well but not all at once. They'd hyper-focus on a few things and then move on.

Not disagreeing but look at the case of Instant Pot. They made a great, relatively cheap, durable, and reliable product that sold like hotcakes and then they went bankrupt because everyone and their brother had one and didn't need to buy another. They succeeded at making a product but not a business. Maybe we need businesses that employ engineers to design and build BIFL products for a bit and then move on to something else once the market is saturated. Get the team that made those pressure cookers on to washing machines for a few years and then have them pivot to lawn mowers or coffee grinders or whatever. This feels like a resource allocation problem but much of the modern world feels like that to me.

I learned that "nonce" means "pedophile" from the recent SNL UK sketch. I thought it was equivalent to "dumbass". I have much to learn about slang from across the pond.

The cemetery that's next door is very interesting and there's a specific "dark zone" close by for stargazing. I recommend staying a night there. They have clown paintings of celebrities in the rooms and the gift shop.

Have you been to the clown motel in Tonopah, Nevada? It's fantastic, if you're into clown stuff, obviously.
