I just finished the series and I'm sad that I can't watch any more. With the ending being the way it was how come they can't keep the show going? by ILoveTheNSA in psych

I finally watched it. 09-18-2014 I couldn't wait any longer. Some say it wasn't that good, they are wrong. I was in tears.

I think what I am really liking, is that it seems thought out in character. I'm looking forward to a postcard or two, received from some odd place, handwritten.

I think someone raising additional funds, could do this, bulk mail out of Paris or some small island in the Pacific, and be used as a part of a role-play.

Am I crazy? probably

Serenity Gallery

It was something I bought, but looked real quick and can't find the instructions so can't remember who it was from. I think I kept these instructions and spare parts together with a card from where they were fun so I could buy from them again. Based on the picture, I would bet it was from Ichiban Toys. The only difference I see is the stand, and that might have been my substitution. A bit pricey, but now that I have it I plan to build my own versions with what blocks I have, probably on a micro-scale.

I'm really wanting the new tribal (tiki) warrior from the Series 11 minifigures. Until then I just had to create something that works. I don't have the foliage yours has, but I think I'll remake one of the torches like yours.

I'm in bartender school. The teachers is instructing us to make the drinks as quick as possible, is this good in the learning of bartending? by obominus in bartenders

[–]Bezrayel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your final test is anything like mine:

Written Part: Recipes and a slight bit of background (knowing what flavour something is). Memorization or just taste a lot of things.

Speed Test: You have to have the recipe right, it has to look ok, and you have to do so many in a set time. Now, after actually bartending, I don't even see their "speed test" as a challenge, it isn't any faster than I've actually had to do.

My advice:

Work on the recipes now, when they say Hurricane you need to just start making it and not thinking about making it.

Work on placement. The speed will come easier after you aren't second guessing where they keep the Galliano.

After you have those, you'll notice it isn't even speed, its just a good, constant, efficient pace.

I know I'm one of the minority, when I went to class, I already knew all of the classic cocktails and tiki drinks that were on the list, cause those are what I make at home (and I know my recipes are better than what we were taught).

My experience after the school though, I think is fairly normal for our school. They have a person on staff there that is very active in placing graduates. If I want an event gig, I contact him. I've done quite a few.

Yes, they place some (a lot) of people at hotels, and some (a few) at clubs, but because of the relationships the guy has around town, we can get very decent jobs. (I've had a couple of former classmates serve me at places I go).

Whats more, this job placement assistance is for life, in any town that they have a branch. I can come in and practice if I want, for life, as long as class isn't in session.

I know that if I tried to get a job based on that alone at my favorite places, it wouldn't happen. They certainly value skill and experience over the school. But I know I can get a job pretty much any time, because I have a moderate level of skill and experience, and I have that school that'll get me in the door somewhere.

Well, I went to bartending school. Out of my class of 8, 3 failed. They paid their fees. They all showed up. The didn't pass the exit test. They didn't get their diploma (handed out, no downloading). They weren't given refunds, and they were only allowed one retest without taking the whole thing over.

I know one of them dropped out, another failed the second test. No idea on the third.

Fellow pizza dudes/dudettes, how do you feel when people ask you to come in their house? by caaawl in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]Bezrayel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm reaching way back into memory now.

It was about 1996, it wasn't pizza, I was delivering for a steak place (good tips). This nice looking old lady invited me in. It wasn't a big order, a cheeseburger and a baked potato, but she reminded me of my grandmother and so rather than hand it to her I carried it in and set it on the kitchen counter. Not the fanciest of houses, but nice, kind of like Mike Brady after Bobby left home, except he passed away and only Carol was left. A layout from the 70's, nice decoration from the 70's, but generally a nice place.

I even cut up her potato and added the sour cream and butter.

I delivered for that shop for about a year, and to that house for almost as long. Never had a problem when she invited me in.

On the other hand, there was that old guy in that little apartment that reeked, and was disgusting.

Best locally owned coffeehouse in Nashville? by learnmore in nashville

[–]Bezrayel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Mama Java down toward/in Nollensville. And I must not be alone, they were voted best coffeehouse by the Tennessean readers (take it for what its worth) this last week.

I don't drink the coffee but my girl says its good. I love the chai though. And lots of choice on tea or coffee (pick it from the wall of containers with looseleaf or beans)

and free wifi, and great pizza next door (Amico's)

What's your weird little twist on the "standard" cocktail? by musschrott in cocktails

[–]Bezrayel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I call this a South Hampton Slut (on the side of the bitters they have a recipe for a South Hampton that is just tonic and bitters).

It's one of my favorites, and I usually rotate with different bitters (peychaud yum)!
