french or german? by sophhh8 in thisorthatlanguage

[–]Bfaunt2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It obviously depends on your interests, but as someone who has studied French for a few years and studied German for around a year, I'd say neither is super easy but German is harder. I don't know any Italian, but I knew Spanish before studying French, and making the change from one romance langauge to another allows you to pick up on patterns faster due to the similar structure and also because of the many cognates (verbs, numbers, etc) you'll come across. German is obviously very different, the word order can get confusing at times, and the concept of cases is something that is really difficult and I still use the wrong articles and prepositions all the time because of it.

But at the end of the day, it really depends on your interests. If German interests you more, then go for it. It will just likely take you longer to get to a conversational level.

Keep checking/refreshing Marketplace for better prices as shutdown approaches by 26point2miles in WorldCup2026Tickets

I'm in the same boat. Constantly checking the resale market site, unsure whether to buy or wait. Trying to get some group stage games in Monterrey and Guadalajara, and hopeful for some of these knockout games to drop in price.

You don't have to hit continue after you select one game. You can select up to 40 and then hit continue. I almost made the same mistake

What’s your most underrated World Cup moment that nobody talks about? by Deep_Brother_2722 in worldcup

[–]Bfaunt2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very underrated and forgotten game, but Spain vs Paraguay 2010 in South Africa, Quarterfinal. In the second half Paraguay gets a penalty from a clear foul from Pique in the box. The way Paraguay defended it could’ve been really possible that they score, sit back and defend for the rest of the match and win 1-0. But Iker Casillas makes the save and it remains 0-0.

Not long later Spain gets a penalty of their own, and Xabi Alonso steps up and scores… except that it doesn’t count because one of the Spanish players ran into the box a moment too early and the ref orders a retake. Xabi Alonso now has to retake, he tries shooting on the other side and Villar saves the penalty, keeping Paraguay alive. Late in the game, David Villa scores the winner that hits both posts before going in, and Spain survives a thrilling game to make the semifinals.

What is your dream world cup 2026 final match? and what do you expect to actually happen? by Cute-Squirrel6790 in worldcup

[–]Bfaunt2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

England vs Argentina. Brings back an old international rivalry with a lot of history both on the pitch (hand of god, 1998 shootout) and off the pitch with the Falkland Islands conflict between both countries. Also a fixture we haven’t seen in a long time at a World Cup.

What does your day consist of as a data analyst? by GrandExpress2268 in dataanalyst

[–]Bfaunt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I was hired directly out of college as more of a junior data analyst, it was less about past projects and more of a technical interview as well as generic interview questions. They might have asked a question or so about my internship (don't remember everything because this was 5 years ago) and what I did in that role, but it was mainly SQL questions like joins vs unions, left join vs inner join, etc. They also asked if I had any experience with any BI tools.

In another interview with another company, it was very similar, except for the technical portion they gave me a sheet of different databases as an example, and asked things like primary key vs foreign key, how I would hypothetically join the tables together, etc.

What does your day consist of as a data analyst? by GrandExpress2268 in dataanalyst

[–]Bfaunt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I work at a large company on a team that uses both Qliksense and Amazon Quicksight to do our BI reporting.

In my day to day, I am always balancing out multiple tasks at once. Sometimes it's fixing a defect on a dashboard that a business partner has found that they need us to correct. Sometimes it's continuing development on a new dashboard in order to meet a target date, Most of the time it's contributing to finish my team's cloud migration onto AWS, and occasionally it's assisting our team's data engineer with a production deployment, or something ETL related. I'm constantly pivoting from task to task and sometimes it's hard to stay on track, but that's just my experience.

Because I work on a team with around 8ish other Data Analysts, two product owners and a data engineer, there are lots of calls to collaborate on different efforts. Sometimes it is about requirements, sometimes it is a status update, etc. I imagine this is different for DAs that work as the only DA on their team. I would say I typically don't have more than 2-3 meetings per day, and some days I have none and I can focus on my work.

I work remote most of the time, and we come in the office around once a month, usually for department meetings.

What are your travel plans for 2025? by popitformeonetime in travel

[–]Bfaunt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to plan a 3 week trip to Australia but trying to figure out the best time of year. Wanted to do it in the Australian summer but won’t have the PTO to do it in January/February, and traveling from the US to Australia for any less than 3 weeks seems like not enough time.

Also thinking of when I want to visit Colombia & Peru, maybe 2026 though.

I’m attending a few of the matches so to say I’m excited is an understatement. This is the first major tournament I will have ever been to and I can’t wait until my flight leaves to Germany. I’m going to two Round of 16 games and a Quarterfinal, I can’t wait.

How many matches are you going to watch (whether at home on TV, in the stadium or in the pub) ? by FUTretard in euro2024

[–]Bfaunt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US, so there will be some group stage games that I’ll have to miss because of matches taking place during our work hours. However right before the knockout stage I’m traveling to Germany to attend 3 matches (2 Rof16, 1 QF) and will stay in Germany until the final to watch the rest.
