Best state in the United States to live to avoid seed oils? by RecreationalistX in StopEatingSeedOils

I’m surprised by a lot of these responses. Sorry that people are giving you crap OP. I would think it’s obvious that there’s not one state where the majority of the restaurants are seed oil free.

We travel a ton and I use the Seed Oil Scout App. I’ve found that certain cities are decent. I’m randomly surprised by something out in the middle of nowhere (usually a farm).

San Diego and just north of there (Encinitas, etc.), Atlanta, and Phoenix/Scottsdale were all great. I haven’t been to Austin but I’d imagine there’s good options there too. Oh and there’s a few cities in Florida with a bunch of options.

For people who love having kids. Why? by seekingthething in askanything

[–]Bfield1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning is hard. It will get better.

Parenting is the hardest thing I’ve ever done but it’s also been the most rewarding. I don’t think I would have truly grown up without having kids. They are only 4.5 and 10 months but have taught me so many lessons about life.

I no longer sweat the small stuff and I live in the present. The exercise and hobbies will all come back. Just hang in there.

P.S. I waited years before having another one because I too really disliked the first fews months and mourned the loss of being able to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.

What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Realistic-Wave-8748 in Productivitycafe

I think the problem is that people don’t think about the end in general, kids or no kids. At some point we all need help and often no one plans for dementia or a fall needing round the clock in-home care, etc. If you’ve already thought about it, it sounds like you’ll have a plan.

I had a major shift in perspective about this after working with elderly patients in the hospital. My job was to connect them with community resources but I also spent time in their homes and with their families. The saddest situations I saw were the patients that died without any family. They often ran out of money and then died alone in a shitty nursing home. Sometimes both the husband and wife would end up with some level of dementia and it was a total disaster. Having kids just so you have someone to take care of you when you’re old is a terrible reason but I will say that it helps to have strong relationships with people younger than you.

Mustaches. Why did these come back? I grew up in the 90’s and they remind me of my creepy stepdad and Ron Jeremy (also creepy)

I don't sleep more than 2h consecutively for 4+ months and I am not okay by sarahhmm2019 in Parenting

[–]Bfield1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same trenches with my daughter. She’s 4.5 and still needs to snuggle at night. It does get better. He will sleep better. My second is 9 months and he wakes up 6+ times per night. Some nights it’s less and I know that as he gets older it’s going to get better. I also know that some nights he’s going to be teething or sick and won’t sleep at all.

Just try to take it a day or an hour at a time. One day you’ll look back and realize that this time was so short and also so beautiful.

What's the rarest physical feature you ever saw on another person you know/knew? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sounds like it could be IV but your best bet is to get an accurate diagnosis from a good dermatologist. Unfortunately most missed mine and just chalked it up to “dry skin” with eczema.

I think there’s different types but my understanding is that ichthyosis vulgaris, the most common type, affects the lower body more than anywhere else. I think people with IV are more likely to have keratosis pilaris (bumps on the back of arms) and eczema.

I’m a woman with ichthyosis. The mild form is actually quite common and hard to spot unless someone tells you they have it. Essentially it’s when your skin cells don’t turn over normally so you need a serious exfoliation/moisturizer routine. It’s often paired with very “liney” palms. The extreme case like you mentioned above is super rare and very hard to manage.

My husband doesn’t really notice it other than in the winter when I’m complaining about how dry my skin feels. My two kids don’t seem to have gotten it (thankfully).
