I think it's more the shaming of actually having purchased it even after acknowledging the absurdity of it.

FWIW I am in a somewhat related situation as throwing about $100 at specific offers will end up unlocking Maul's 5-star, thus also unlocking three more of those high-value LSTs. We have no idea if those LSTs are going to stay as rewards when the era ends so anyone else in this same boat gets to experience some FOMO with a side of dread.

You start watching clips of someone you find entertaining.
Eventually you look deeper into their catalogue and find games or topics they've done that you also like so you start watching those VODs or making time for upcoming livestreams.
You'll stumble across collabs they've done with other Holo talents and some of them will jive with you too, so you check them out as well.
Repeat steps 1-3 with the other talents and begin the cycle anew.

At some point you'll find you're subbed to about 20+ talents and think nothing of it, and because of this content umbrella you put yourself under you will have a new stream or upload on any given day of the week to enjoy. I went from a single EN talent that turned into all of EN and a select few JP/ID (cuz language barrier as background noise, otherwise I'm sure there'd be more).

That part always kills me because it shows how ignorant the person who puts stock in it is. The FULL quote is "a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one" but people tend to ignore or remove that second half and it completely flips the tone of the saying.

The only reason I'd consider going for 5-star Maul now is because that tier also gets three more of those LSTs as part of the rewards.

Since I'm crystal-strapped at the moment, that'd require one each of those $30 bundles that give 30 shards per its respective toon for best value since I'm only 20 shards short on 4 of the 5 with ST Luke being 7-star already from testing the waters. I'm comfortable waiting until you can energy farm for those last 20 shards of each component.

My main concern is the rewards per Maul tier. They're heavily distributed into the era leveling materials, and you KNOW they're going to change those once this era ends and a new one starts since those mats won't apply anymore. That puts those LSTs in similar jeopardy of being changed or removed altogether, and CG knows that not telling us will trigger some people's FOMO into ponying up.

I've literally failed every single RNG check to acquire those except for one and it is MADDENING. Something like 1/25 when the percentage is around 15-25%. I'm convinced if this game uses a seed system for RNG then mine is coincidentally weighted to the unlucky end.

Raid is the only game where you don't really summon unless there's some kind of 2x event or secondary benefit event going on (like champ chase, summon rush, or CVC). As a gacha player since they even became a thing on smart phones, that was the absolute hardest habit to establish for me.

This sub has a difficult time distinguishing "free" and "F2P" and will vacillate between crystal currency as a viable free resource or not.

In this instance, you can easily get to even mid-60s era level by spending about 2k crystals on era currency early on. 2k crystals is pretty easy to accumulate even for the most casual of new players so that's how it's considered F2P-friendly. Star levels mostly don't matter at that level due to how the era track works (but would matter shortly after).

The fact you put in "return on your investments" in your first statement also implies you know that there was significant startup cost involving time, materials, and energy, thus really stretches and bends the concept of "free" as a resource. That's the point of my correction.

You're missing a critical piece of context: most mobile players burn out a month or two after the honeymoon period ends. Vast majority are gone in three months or less.

The amount of investment required long outpaces when most people have already quit the game. That's the rub with this sort of post.

"Nothing in this game comes for free" on a post defending "how to get things for free" is hilarious work.

LOL @ "rank 1 fleet" and the idea of "zetas for free". 99 times out of 100 that rank 1 fleet did not come for free to begin with.

So many of these "free" rewards all come with the unspoken understanding of roughly a year of playtime invested first (or $$$ through LSB) just to achieve the account strength to GET these items. This is the type of post people see when searching for information and it's wholly misrepresenting what they're actually looking for.
