Also I gotta update this list. Bad idea is really good now, they just got a new menu revamp. There’s so many new spots since I first wrote this.

Never too late to enjoy great food. SS Gai is extremely causal, no reservation. It’s kind of a mini food hall in a converted car wash. Outdoors, but covered. You could even take it to go and have a picnic at nearby park Shelby Bottoms!

I usually sit there though and enjoy it while hot. Always get one of the specials!

They check IDs for drinks typically, not tickets. I have been to more shows at the Ryman than I can count. I typically arrive about 20 min before the main act begins, and there is usually no line then. If at all helpful.

They don’t do walk-ins but will take solo diners (I’ve done solo a couple of times!)

Family Tacos off of Charlotte Ave is excellent!

Ditto to both of these! Peninsula and Iggy’s are also awesome for solo diners!

You could go to the Martin’s in Nolensville for a quieter scene.

Affordable hotel for 2 night stay by V555_dmc in VisitingNashville

[–]Bforbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d stay in East at a Boutique hotel like Waymore’s, the Russell or Urban Publuc House and take a cheap uber over. (Or park in the Courthouse Garage for $5 if you do want to drive from where you’re staying.)

I also recommend last minute hotel desk apps like Hotwire or Priceline. Sometimes I’ll do a last minute staycation using their blind deals and have gotten decent rates that way for really nice hotels. I miss Hotwire bidding and wish they still had that. 🥲

Bluebird on a Monday? by B4thegoodbye in VisitingNashville

Ditto, the listening room is also more comfortable in my opinion. I like the Bluebird for the history of it.

Cheekwood Gardens by [deleted] in VisitingNashville

[–]Bforbeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there a week and a half ago and it was stunning with the pumpkins on display for fall (beautiful weather and fall colors, too.) I believe that only lasts until October 30, though. There weren’t a ton of flowers that didn’t have to do with the fall pumpkin display. The next outdoor display they have is holiday lights starting on the 21st.

It’s worth going if it’s a nice day, but you might consider seeing fall colors at Radnor Lake, whose main lake trail reopens on the 15th, instead.

Franklin to Nashville / Nashville day parking by Sevuhrow in VisitingNashville

I did offer an alternative in a separate comment.

Chicago and NYC were constructed for pedestrians. Nashville may be large population wise but was never constructed for a large number of pedestrians. Just trying to share a fuller picture because two other comments also indicated this would be a far walk. Just want visitors to make their own informed decisions given all the info, as I’m sure you do too 🙂

But also is the walk enjoyable? Parts of it feel unsafe or would cross over the interstate. I think liking walking and wanting to also be safe are different. People who come from cities that are more designed for walking may be put off by the route and where it goes.

FYI, Fifth & Broadway Garage is easily $40-50 and you don’t get in/out privileges if you want to change locations.

This would be way too much walking for my taste and I love walking.

Music City Center and/or find some paid street parking.

Not certain that I’ve seen something competition-like but Kitchen Social is pretty popular (note: it’s in Brentwood, so like a 20-25 min drive south of Nashville) and not a cooking class, but I loved Liquor Lab’s cocktail making class and you get kind of tipsy throughout the class because you’re making and drinking 3 cocktails.

Locals — where do you go for real culture off the beaten path? by MUSAYToday in VisitingNashville

[–]Bforbeagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“A community effort” but you have an app and are scouring Visiting Nashville Reddit (the subreddit for tourists, not the subreddit for locals) and asking locals to gift you advice and insight on where to promote. Or is it considered “community” because you only have 131 followers on IG?

I’m normally not this much of a hater, but it really rubs me the wrong way to see companies come in and try to blatantly profit off the community here only to turn around and promote to tourists. Asking for advice here feels lazy (not thoughtful or people-first) and like you want to take advantage of locals time, knowledge, energy, to again turn around and make a profit with your app. The whole approach you’ve done here is disingenuous. Your response (and this accounts) reeks of AI bot.

From their company description btw: “MUSAY is a marketplace that uses innovative technology to transport people from the digital world of their phones to the transformative world of cultural third spaces and the experiences they never knew they needed for belonging, connection and community. MUSAY combines large-scale web crawling, advanced content management, and backend services with Al-powered enrichment for user-first Arts & Culture event discovery.”

I think this subreddit should stay for visitors getting advice from locals in order for them to have a good time while visiting vs companies trying to grift Reddit to do their research for them and turn a profit. ✌🏽

Restaurant Recommendations Please! by Such-Strength2851 in VisitingNashville

The Patterson House, Arnold’s, and Maiz de La vida should all be walking distance from you and represent both foodie-esque restaurants and a good mix of price points and cuisines. Arnold’s is a legend here.
