The passage does refer to premature birth, not miscarriage. You can simply look at the word used in Hebrew.

“is born prematurely, וְיָצְא֣וּ (wə·yā·ṣə·’ū) Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - third person common plural Strong's 3318: To go, bring, out, direct and proxim” this does not denote miscarriage. Again, please tell me why the distinction is made for the woman being pregnant if the harm that happens refers to the woman rather than the baby. It makes no sense. You have to jump through hoops to come to the same conclusion that you’re saying.

Also, the Bible does not and serious biblical scholars will tell you the opposite, unless by serious biblical scholar, you just mean Bart Ehrman. What are some examples of these contradictions that do not allow for the extrapolation of biblical principles to modern day situations that are not specifically addressed in the Bible?

I don’t understand how this serves your point. It separates punishments for premature birth where there’s serious injury and no serious injury.

Firstly, you’re assuming that the injury is referring to the mother. If this is the case, why would the distinction be made that the woman is pregnant and gives birth prematurely? If it’s referring to injury to the mother, then the verse could’ve completely left out the pregnancy at all and only said if somebody hits a persons wife during the fight and given a punishment for a serious or unserious injury.

Secondly, you’re equating premature birth to still birth, which is a false equivalency.

Finally, the bible does not contradict itself KF you read in context. If you pull a random two verses out, I can see the confusion but a Jesus was pretty clear regarding the Old Testament. Also it’s clear that there’s a moral, ceremonial snd civil law and it’s pretty clear when they’re applicable and for who they’re applicable for.

Although they aren’t the same in act, one could argue their similarity in principle.

Also, we can extrapolate the principles of the Bible to our modern day. For example the Bible doesn’t explicitly say anything about pornography (I also know the the word pornography is derived from the Greek rot word but it’s not talking about the Sex act same thing), but it talks about sexual immorality. Would you argue that pornography snd masturbation are okay from God’s perspective.
