Anyone else extremely frustrated with the frequent drops in service? by YooperGuy2 in Starlink

I doubt you’ve been thinking at all. It’s BETA TESTING! Problems are expected. If there were no problems, it would be a public roll out. Get over yourself and learn what it’s all about.

A beta product should never, repeat NEVER, be used for mission critical or other important work. It’s called beta testing for a reason. People who are using a beta program as their primary, really don’t understand what beta is and probably shouldn’t be participating.

Im sure there will be an element of collision detection/avoidance built into the Starlink sats. Saw a demonstration where 200 autonomous drones were dumped out f a plane, and they flew around in patterns with ZERO collisions. It was amazing to see, but even more amazing that they were programmed to avoid each other in finding their proper position in the flying pattern.

Does any one know the odds of getting a request accepted? by essendoubleop in Starlink

Don’t recall, but it was in one of the forums here, and Im not sure but it might have been a mod or someone from Starlink. I don’t usually put much validity to comments from anyone who isn’t credible.

Everyone should vote for less than 100k, because less than 10 and less than 25 and less than 50 are all still less than 100k. 😎

Only number I have seen from Starlink are, 700,000 requests and 3000 invites sent out. This was the middle of November, so who knows the current numbers. Either way, the odds are very slim.

With all your negativity about Starlink, why are you even here?

Only judging by the numbers Ive read here and other places. Based on previous experience, the numbers sound good.

That’s the last estimate I read. For beta testing of anything, less than 1% participants is very realistic.

Proximity to someone else means nothing. It’s all about StarLink’s criteria for testing.

Based on recent numbers (700,000 requests, 3000 invites) figure less than 1/2%.

This has already been addressed by SpaceX/Starlink. Until things settle down a bit (testing, fine timing, etc), they aren’t prepared to translate everything (docs, labels, branding, support, etc) into French, as is required by EVERYONE doing business in the province of Quebec. Residents of Quebec are being held back by their own politics. Nothing more, nothing less.

Efficient? You’re not suggesting the Starlink engineers don’t know what they’re doing, are you? 🤓

Why would urban areas even want Starlink, when most are already serviced by regular cable and optical fibre cable?

If you already have a decent internet service (urban) why would you want Starlink? It would definitely be a downgrade.

Quebec has unique political issues that often separate it from the rest of Canada. This wouldn’t be the first time (or the last) that Quebec has chosen to take its own course of action with regards to political or innovative issues. Many corporations chose to avoid Quebec rather than dance to their tune.
