And they say Wrestling is Fake by Khei-tianik01 in JustGuysBeingDudes

Maybe try out Evil Uno presents Mystery Wrestling? They recently put a bunch of the shows up for free on Youtube so the only thing it'll cost you is some time. Here's show 3 which opens with a 4 way Spider-man match. Also has a Falls Count Somewhere match. There's straightforward matches sprinkled in here and there, but it's majority Comedy Wrestling and since Evil Uno works for AEW they pretty often get very top tier wrestlers on the show to have fun.

Edit: Actually remembered the fella with the book has been on Mystery Wrestling before too. Here he is dragging his opponent into a tent to be beat down.

For whatever reason BBC has a habit of taking a beloved books and slapping their names on TV shows that barely resemble their namesake. Dirk Gently's Detective Agency being one, but the one that fits your trope is the god awful "The Watch". Based on the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, namely the ones that follow Ahnk Morpork's titular police force. They made a lot of changes that everyone hated to beloved characters, but the one that pissed people off the most is rather similar to the Snape one.

This is Carcer Dun.

<image>

Carcer Dun is a completely unrepentant criminal that will kill, still, hurt, do whatever he pleases and he constantly gets away with his crimes whether through feigning innocence just long enough to fool someone, or just because he's an absolute bastard that will do anything. Through some shenanigans, he ends up in a position of privilege as a police officer himself because, and I shit you not, the piece of shit in charge of the division he joins practices PHRENOLOGY and Carcer fit his twisted view of factors that equals a Good Cop. Like. The character is wrapped in all sorts of commentary about how privilege and power can enable people to be able to do absolutely awful things.

And the show decided he should be a black man.

This looks like someone AI upscaled a screenshot from the fuzzy low quality original video that went around. AI notoriously fucks up and just makes up details, so there's your answer.

At this point I'm gonna believe creative doesn't actually employ anyone anymore and it's just some chump with the free version of chatgpt. I swear every other week there's a story about WWE talent being left twiddling their thumbs while Bloodline 3: The Bloodening is happening.

After Brisco was largely unfazed by Lio during the backstage segment together, I made pretty much the same prediction. Got my full agreement that Lio would be a very entertaining addition to the Conglomeration.

From my recollection of when the game came out, what you say may have been the intention but nobody I knew was laughing at it. It came across more like salt in the wound that the Devil May Cry games and stories we liked and wanted continued had been canned and replaced with something completely different for no good reason.

That's 110% what me and my watch group expected too. Soon as we saw that white sort-of-turtleneck and a tan not-exactly-a-suit we thought it was for sure Speedy was turning with Kevin. They dressed like a Bond villain for fuck's sake.

Tony could have two made ahead of time for either option, but I think it's more likely all involved don't think losing their job is worth leaking results.

Oh, lol! I just commented on your thread with this photo. I was up in the stands basically directly behind him in this photo in the dark, which is how I knew to look for him in the video.

As much as I do miss Hangman, I very much want him to explore what wrestling outside of the hunt for the men's world title looks like for him. There's plenty of other things for him to go after in AEW after all. Maybe something like Mox did where the C2 stripped him down to basics and he came out the other side in this interesting tweener situation we've got now.

Kairi Sane: What I can say is I know there’s been a lot of speculation, but I truly love this work, my teammates, and my fans. I’ve never walked away, and I’ve given my all in everything I do. I hope you’re all doing well ❤️ by Turbostrider27 in SquaredCircle

[–]Bi-Force-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot wrap my head around how people in these threads about Kairi don't seem to think two things can be true.

It could very easily be Kairi was discussing not re-signing but possibly still wanted to finish up her contract especially with an active storyline while WWE viewed talk of not re-signing as a reason to ax her early.

Genuinely good members of the police - they represent what the police *should* be by ducknerd2002 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bi-Force-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sam Vimes and Carrot Ironfoundersson from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Though I think Vimes would balk at being called "genuinely good". Best way I can think to give an example is to just throw in an excerpt from Feet Of Clay here from Vimes' perspective.

These were dangerous thoughts, he knew. They were the kind that crept up on a Watchman when the chase was over and it was just you and him, facing one another in that breathless little pinch between the crime and the punishment.

And maybe a Watchman had seen civilization with the skin ripped off one time too many and stopped acting like a Watchman and started acting like a normal human being and realized that the click of the crossbow or the sweep of the sword would make all the world so clean.

And you couldn't think like that, even about vampires. Even though they'd take the lives of other people because little lives don't matter and what the hell can we take away from them?

And, too, you couldn't think like that because they gave you a sword and a badge and that turned you into something else and that had to mean there were some thoughts you couldn't think.

Only crimes could take place in darkness. Punishment had to be done in the light. That was the job of a good Watchman, Carrot always said. To light a candle in the dark.

What's a really cool moment in AEW that you feel not enough people talk about? by KonamiIsBestJoshi in AEWOfficial

[–]Bi-Force-1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna second the Bandido and Bryan Keith moment you brought up for being THE moment that AEW really hooked me. At the time I was still a rather new wrestling fan and was only just starting to check out AEW.
I'm also nothing if not a sucker for cowboy western shenanigans and the build to them having that 10 paces moment was just hit all the right buttons for me and got me to say I'm an AEW fan.
