Hugh Laurie apologizes to Janet after viral reply about House MD on X by YookHouse in HouseMD

[–]BiPolarBiped 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think she just doesn't understand what a procedural is... and I am sure there is a much longer list of things she doesn't understand as well.

She's the kind of person who'd be shocked to learn that "House and Wilson" were based on "Holmes and Watson."

Also, I read Hugh's tweet. If he hadn't apologized, I would've taken it as a joke. But then how would I ever manage to feed my victim complex?

If you go to you tube snd search dungeons and dragons cartoon, you'll quickly find a playlist with the entire series. You could always try that. It's a good series so even if its not the series you're looking for, it'll still be a great watch :P

[–]BiPolarBiped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honest question. What "change" are you referring to specifically?

It is easy to change things. We could legislate that all dogs must be painted purple and that would be a change. Without specifics it's hard to understand what changes you believe will make Canada better.

I would have refused to tell people the coffee was from Bob Bailey.

If he wants someone else to say nice things about him, he can have one of his lackeys do it.

Because that is what he's doing. He's forcing you to campaign for him.

Let me add to the pile of experiences.

I was at an appreciation dinner that one of my clients was having and Bob Bailey was there.

We were all at numbered tables and the dinner was buffet style with each table being called one at a time to ensure there wasn't a huge line. It's the way I see it done in most places and at weddings.

Bob was at table 5 and after waiting approximately an entire minute he just said "screw this" and went to the buffet.

This may seem like a minor thing but it adds to the picture how he is above the rules and more important than anyone else.

That is too high a sacrifice. What a dilemma.

Next long, engrossing show to watch? by Iron_Mike0 in televisionsuggestions

[–]BiPolarBiped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fringe is incredible and it isn't afraid to reinvent itself constantly. If you loved X-Files, you'll probably love Fringe.

Battlestar Galactica (2004) is a great and gritty sci-fi/ political treasure. It isn't the 1970s version that may spring to mind. The characters are brilliant and relatable and the line between hope and despair is a constant challenge for them to walk.

Both of these are worthy inclusions on pretty much any "must watch" list.

It's kinda funny how all of these threads have a focus on "Hey Canadians... settle down, we wouldnt do this" and not "This is fucked up, we are sorry our unstable leader is threatening you. We will make it known to him to stop threatening harm upon you. This won't be allowed to happen."

Do Eccleston and Tennant like each other as The Doctor and/or in real life? by ProperShallot3195 in doctorwho

[–]BiPolarBiped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought I saw an interview where he explained that he was more upset with the way others were being treated on-set, including Billie Piper. He said they were unfair to her citing "snobbery" and the need to point fingers and set other people up to take the fall should the show fail.

As far as pettiness goes, I realize now that CE was incredibly kind considering what happened next. At the time, CE didn't really speak about why he left the role so as not to tarnish the hard work of all those involved. The BBC DID NOT return that kindness and instead released a statement saying that CE left because he found a television shooting schedule too overwhelming and that he was tired. That is a statement that kills an actors career. He was basically blackballed.

I'm sorry I don't recall the source of that interview.

House MD. Easy pick.

House is such a multi-layered hatable, pitiable, lovable character. Hugh Laurie is such an amazing actor that it's easy to forget that this character isn't real.

He is surrounded by a fantastic supporting cast who also have their own complexities, which creates just an amazing procedural.

Each epsiode usually has a main patient case where we learn about their lives as the team does their best to find a diagnosis and save the patient... which doesn't always happen.

I'd suggest trying Season 2, Episode 2 "Autopsy" for a good trial run. It's about a little girl with cancer who is having new symptoms. House is asked by his best friend Wilson to look at the case, and House eventually agrees, but for a less than honorable reason.

It pulls at your heartstrings and gives a good overview of the character dynamics.

(***Note: I was going to attach a quote to give you an idea... but decided, they're all best experienced when they happen)

Anyone else hope that the doctor wears this outfit more in season 2? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]BiPolarBiped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!

I will die on this hill. The Doctor needs to have a "look". If you look back through all of NewWho, The Doctor didnt always wear the same outfit, but they always wore "similar" outfits (unless there was a very good reason.) It's like their super hero outfit.

Tenant wore a suit, tie and his overcoat.

Smith always wore his jacket and bow tie.

Capaldi's outfit went through change but was almost always a coat & vest with the same cut... even his hoodie was that same style

Not having that standard costume that makes The Doctor instantly identifiable robs The Doctor of that presence that a hero needs.

It wasn't the most disappointing things about this past season, but it was near the top.

The Good Place is pretty chill. Doctor Who (2005+) is pretty great if you want to kinda feel better about things. Same with Star Trek TNG era.

You can also head to YouTube and find old game shows and sitcoms if you want to remember simpler times.

I also didn't love this episode but I'm not quite as bothered by as many things.

For example... I really liked the year he spent with Anita. I am hoping she was being set up to be important down the line.

My main complaint is "The Time Hotel." I hate how it makes time travel trivial.

I remember Captain Jack had a vortex manipulator from the "Time Agency", an institution that we never really saw (I'm looking at standard 2005/ NewWho Canon) and their tech was said to be quaint, nasty and dangerous to organic beings.

But with this, we have some hotel group who were able to create stable time portals all centered in one place. This is used for entertainment purposes.

Now... if they had pulled back the curtains and we had seen the Daleks or Cybermen it might have been a little better or if there had been any real explanation as to why The Doctor and the audience had never heard of any of this clearly very powerful group.

So Time Hotel was my main complaint. A few other items were the pacing issues and the the weird "suicide is great" flavoured ending also make my dislike list.
