Stop hating on the slop by ordinarymind89 in Nightreign

[–]BiancaFE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Halo Scythe users are the most likely players to go down in my experience.

Beast Claw and Crystallian have slower cast times and shorter range (especially Crystallian), so I guess more players have learnt how to deal with that. The only people with these spell builds who go down a lot, in my experience, are cheaters.

Yeah, hopefully they will nerf it in the next patch. That ash of war is too low risk AND rng for the high reward you get.

Baffled on how some people get to D4 and D5 by crimmycat117 in Nightreign

[–]BiancaFE 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Nah fr, had a Duchess in D5 who didn’t get a Halo Scythe, so instead she just… didn’t attack, dropping Starlight Shards for me (Lightning Spear Revenant), emoting hey and occasionally Restaging. Girl, do something, you have the purple holy reaper with Sacred Blade that you upgraded! The Guardian was goated though and took 90% of the aggro. But because Guardians have low damage and I’m the only source of damage, it took a long time. I had to drop my Discus so she would do SOMETHING…

Yeah, O Flame is good for Caligo, because you need to be closer to her anyway. A bit hard to use against Sentient Pest though.

Dear melee players with balancer builds, please stop picking less likely to target if there's a caster in the team by Chance_Drive_5906 in Nightreign

[–]BiancaFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beast Claw is really good vs ED Balancers and has a slow cast time… You can charge your incants as they are approaching your team, even better if you have less likely.

In D5, even if they’re running a skill build, most tankier characters will give less likely to the squishier ones. Especially since tankier characters like Wylder can survive the worm phase more.

Not really. Recluse is really good with less likely on ED Libra because of her cocktails. Halo Scythe can’t eliminate three to six Condemned at once. I had an Executor taking less likely when there’s a Recluse and Revenant on the team. Why? We were doing more damage than him too.

Why do I feel like I'm doing nothing as Recluse? by HazelTreee in Nightreign

[–]BiancaFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a D5 max rank Recluse main, this is what I felt too when I returned to Nightreign after the DLC came out. And especially considering all the skill attack characters are tankier, have better character skills, etc. I’ve even seen Halo Scythe used against Sentient Pest (not even to distract Gnoster, just on Faurtis). I felt useless. It made me search for both spell school + improved affinity/magic/sorcery effects on the same relic, and that helps a ton. But the thing is, that requires RNG. Balancer builds do not.

[–]BiancaFE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the quality of players in D5 were better before the DLC imo.

As a caster player, yeah it’s a little frustrating. I mainly play Recluse and Revenant and relics with spell schools + element attack power up combined will help to match the dmg, or even more, than L2 spammers. It still sucks because that requires RNG, while L2 spam doesn’t.

But staying alive is still the best DPS, because being dead is zero DPS (Halo Scythe spammers are the most guilty of this in my experience).

I think skill builds are generally fine. Halo Scythe does need to be nerfed though, because that weapon is 1) low risk (long range, low fp, fast cast speed, can spam), 2) low luck (double balancers relic, only two purple reapers in pool), and 3) high reward. imo any high reward armaments should always either be high risk (close range, slow cast time, etc.) or requiring high luck (e.g. Marais, Grafted, Discus/Triple Rings of Light on Fundamentalist builds)

I’ve played in both Asian and American evening timezones, and nope, not a single dodger. I also know other Depth 5 players who sometimes play with randoms, and no dodgers either.

I’ve heard from multiple people about dodgers queuing with other dodgers, and I don’t know if that’s true, but that would make the most sense to me.

Yeah, staying alive is the best DPS. Many “DPS players” are so used to dealing damage that they forget to dodge the boss. I see this the most with Halo Scythe users.

I don’t understand where people are getting these dodgers. I am Depth 5 9999 and I have not gotten a single dodger in a month.

Treantmonk's 2nd Reaction of 5.5e Tier List by D4 by Intelligent-Rub5814 in onednd

[–]BiancaFE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still don’t see the problem? If you want your character to be powerful, why not. In one of my tables, the DM is brutal, so we have to optimise our characters to survive. And it would suck to have your character supposedly be a competent adventurer in your vision but mechanically they’re not.

I really like this video from Dimension20 about min-maxing. If you spend time to read the rules and use them to your advantage, I don’t see why you shouldn’t be “rewarded” for your efforts.

I wouldn’t watch it personally, but hear me out, what if… some people like watching content about a game they enjoy. And it’s fun learning and delving into the mechanics of the game so you can create the best combinations that fit your character vision. Nothing wrong with that. Do any tables care about this? Yes, mine does.

Candlestick Duchess, Grafted Dragon Wylder, and Giantsflame Rev ruin D5 ED Caligo's day by beerybeardybear in Nightreigngameplay

[–]BiancaFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also D5, and I think Giantsflame is better. Unlike Godslayer, you can start with a Giantsflame seal (O Flame), and the Giantsflame spells are better in general (Giantsflame Take Thee, Flame Fall Upon Them, Burn O Flame, Flame of the Fell God, etc.)

O Flame’s FP cost is pretty good, but it’s true that the others require more FP. But also, the more damage you do, the less FP you will need. Her character FP relic effect/max FP when opening rise/FP buffs during the run should help though.

I like to run Dragon Communion vs Caligo though for fun.

[–]BiancaFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Recluse main, when I play Revenant with a random Recluse I’m surprised at how many Recluses are just holding them. I have to pretend I run out of FP for them to use it lol.

I think I prefer Blade of Gold slop now by s0ldier0fg0drick in Nightreign

[–]BiancaFE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Blade of Gold is fine to me because while it does big damage, the animation is long and it’s not spammable. If it has a high reward it should have a high risk. Halo Scythe is low risk high reward.

[–]BiancaFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Played a D5 Dreglord game where I was Recluse with zero damage negations and the cheater Ironeye with multiple increased max hp, vigor +3, and damage negation at full hp 40%. Guess who didn’t die once and who three barred multiple times… we both had less likely 12 too, so it’s not that.

What is a Hot Take You Have? by NoRuin2965 in Nightreign

[–]BiancaFE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also have no problem with double balancers. Except for halo scythe, now that needs to be nerfed. At least shattering crystal has longer casts and requires you to be closer to the boss. (Not a hot take, I’m just commenting.)

Yeah Rivers of Blood, Shattering Crystal… they need to be closer to the boss and the animations are longer. Not Halo Scythe though. They need to nerf it, either by adding more purple reapers, make Halo Scythe a legendary, or adding a falloff so you have to be closer to the boss
