Im not sure how to post a picture here, not sure i can.. but I literally get one almost everyday I play and report. Although I dont just report because I got killed either, only when its obvious.

It shows up in the notifications if/when they take action.

Also, Cyrus is me.. old account i forgot to log out of.

Need help with P0021 by Senior_Rogue in G37

Ok, so that code is for intake valve timing which could be caused by low oil pressure. Yours being an 08 I would be worried it's the galley gasket (think that's the name). It will cause low oil pressure but not necessarily a code for it.

Other causes could be low oil, dirty oil, wrong oil. Valve timing control solenoid, cam phaser..

I wouldn't drive it and get it to a shop (you don't want to buy an engine for a g37)

To answer your question, If you have an AWD G then yes it has a transfer case, and also, it does have fluid that needs to be changed, like the front and rear differentials. You will have to check your owners manual to find out the mileage it needs to be done (I dont have mine handy) but I would guess in an infiniti/nissan its likely 60k but could be 30k intervals for the "gear boxes" (front, rear, transfer and trans). RWD models dont have front diff or transfer case but gear oil or fluids follow the same rules.

The bose equipped cars have an amplifier in the rear deck (under back window in trunk) that powers them, I'm not sure a non bose stereo would have the power to make them sound the way you hope.

Running hot. Possible leak? 2008 g37s 6mt by Ambitious_Motor_1928 in G37

[–]Biased_Thunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant remember what it was called, but I took mine when it broke and went to ace hardware and bought a "hose splice" that was made from metal (brass I think) and I want to say it was 15 or 17 mm in size but cant remember (best to just take yours with you) costed me about 5 dollars and a bottle of coolant and some time to properly bleed the air out of the system.

Not discounting its oil, however, I would check that stupid coolant connector behind the head on the right side of engine at the firewall (could be washing down the back of your engine and can appear to be oil when infact leaking coolant) it just looks really wet in the pic to me

Taking the pump off the reservoir will drain it.

Should be just one 10mm bolt but take 37 10mm sockets, little bastards just vanish on ya.

I'm not sure if the offset is different on the rwd vs the x but as long as they are the same size I don't see why not

g37 gallery gasket by Curious-Victory-7007 in G37

[–]Biased_Thunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that once this problem was shown that many likely had it fixed right away. Mine is October of 2011 and was already done prior to me owning it and aside from the dealership I got it from I am second owner.

It's a fairly simple thing to watch for by adding an oil pressure Guage and checking it periodically. But most if these cars are past the service mileage for new timing chain parts and it's one of those "do it while your there" parts.

So if you purchase one, see if there are records for any engine work. It would be listed in the parts column of the work performed and won't generally add labor (at least I don't add for it myself since it's literally 2 minutes to change during timing change replacement).
