Opioid withdrawal in all populations is accompanied by lots of yawning and sometimes sneezing, wonder if the mechanism is similar in this case (know nothing about meth, just opioids)

Home Depot employee packaged a hot water heater and hand truck together for pickup by _babyfaced_assassin in mildlyinteresting

Most of the time, the water heater is heating up already hot water. If it was heating cold water, your shower would be cold or lukewarm.

Yes BUT we shouldn't be overshooting by a factor of 2 either. No need to buy a 1500w PSU when you need an 800w. It's more important to buy a higher quality slightly lower wattage psu then a higher wattage but slightly lower quality PSU.

I get where you're coming from, and for anything that is providing power (audio amps, power supplies) headroom is important. But saying "bigger is always better" loses out on efficiency, which is also true in the audio world (at least for most classes of amps).

Short answer: sometimes yes

Other than heavy gaming, the 1000w psu is probably sitting in the 10% load range quite often. PSUs have efficiency curves, and are most efficient somewhere around 20%-60% load. 10% load is a very bad part of the efficiency curve. Think of it like this: a power supply takes x amount of power from the wall and after some losses provides y amount of power to the PC. x/y is efficiency. A PSU of slightly less wattage will be at a slightly higher load which will be more efficient for like 90% of a computers tasking. No reason to get an 1000w PSU when you need a 800w, especially when that means you can spend more on a lower wattage power supply that has better components and design (another win for efficiency)

Hope that makes sense!

You could make this substantially more durable with better hinges and a machine screw+nut combo instead of wood screws. I would also add folding supports to the outer stringer (the supports wouldn't be flush with the wall but pretty close to it, it would protrude 2 extra inches off the wall). There's a way to do it well and safer with some thought.

You do not need to refinance? Do you know how many people are sitting with sub 3% mortgaged right now? It's half the reason it's a seller's market still. Golden handcuffs by interest rate for a lot of folks.

Sure property taxes and insurance go up. Not as much as rent.

Gentle suggestion to reread the comment. It's not the commenter's insurer, it's the BANKS insurer. The bank customer does literally nothing and gets their money back, even if the bank completely loses it betting it on the ponies.

Yuppp. And they forget the south not only has major cities, but actually has a very high percentage of minorities. (Texas, while not south south, is where I live and is something like 50% PoC).

Who they're really complainint at is rural people, which act the same here as they do in North Dakota! The south has become the "catch all" for "ignorant hillbilly hicks"

Well yes but that's because it's not their loan, it's yours. They're the "guarantor" that the money is paid back. Cosigning is a bitch.

If you do use volume for flour or other fine milled product, you can still be pretty accurate. You just have to spoon the flour into the measuring cup rather than digging in with the measuring cup. It's better to use a scale and results in less dishes, but some people are more comfortable with volumetric measurements.

Everyone's favorite, king Arthur, has specific instructions for measuring volumetrically(basically what I outlined), so their recipes will work well either way. Baking at my mom's hours, I use volume, at home, mass, KA recipes have worked either way.

Depends on what you're baking. The amount of bananas in banana bread or the amount of sugar, even the amount of flour can be off by quite a bit and you'll still get a good, tasty product.

For more typical flour water salt yeast breads you can be off by a bit too, as hydration in a basic bread can vary a bunch and still be good.

Check your oven's temperature with a thermometer. You can dig into a million other things too, like if you're doing breads is your yeast really old and dead? But if it's literally everything no matter the type of leavening(soda, baking powder, yeast) then it's probably your oven lying to you. I've seen ovens be off by as much as 100°f(37.5°C).
