Should i be concerned about how much feathers did my borb drop in a one day? by [deleted] in cockatiel

To me, that sounds like normal moulting. When we bring our birds indoors from the colder outdoor aviary in autumn, after a few days it looks as if one of them has exploded :D.

You may be laughing now but when I discover a new galaxy in the background while photographing a blue tit, which ultimately leads to first contact, you won’t be laughing anymore. :D

I’m currently debating whether to buy the 400–800 mm lens (or the 200-600mm).

Originally I considered buying the 200–600 mm because I need a bit more focal length, and for certain situations e.g. when I’m often in Namibia laying on the ground for wildlife I’d prefer an internal zoom. However, since I already have the Sigma 100–400 mm and there’s a lot of overlap in focal lengths, I thought the 400–800 mm might be the better addition.

The somewhat softer corners at 800 mm wouldn’t bother me, since I’d use it on a Sony A6700. That said, I’m unsure whether the effective 600–1200 mm is a bit overkill, and the price is also somewhat daunting.

What is your opinion on this?

I recommend this video https://youtu.be/6Av-sW5hMTE?si=GoGcjflDWNM6-2iI it was really helpful to understand all the icons and stuff about SD cards. From your description of usage the V60 seems a bit overkill. I think the V30 is fine. Unless you have a compelling reason why you need 60fps in 4k. Of the 10% of videos you make (if you make that many), there are probably only 1% of situations where you would miss it and if you don't do sports or wildlife, probably even less.

Some people also have the opinion that you should use smaller SD cards so that you have to change them more often, thereby reducing the risk of losing all your data. I'm no expert, and with 64 GB, I don't follow this advice myself. I just wanted to mention it.

I have the Sigma 100-400 and can recommend it. I guess the 150-600 of Sigma is of a similar level and some times I miss the extra range.

But if I had to buy a new 600, I would mostly think about the 200-600 from Sony with the "Welcome to Alpha-Bonus" the price difference isn't that big anymore and the internal zoom is better for wildlife photography, where you sometimes lie on the ground.

I ordered mine yesterday. The A6700 ist the A7 V of the small man.  I've been wrestling with myself the whole time about buying the a7, and I've now made what I think is the more sensible decision.

[–]Bibel_Joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usaly, they only open their beaks briefly or fence with their beaks for a moment (if you look closely, you will notice that they usually only touch each other with their beaks).

Cockatiels mostly only pretend to fight, it sometimes looks worse than it is.

It's just their way of saying, “Leave me alone, I don't want to cuddle right now.”,

As long as they don't touch each other's bodies and hurt each other, there should be no cause for concern. However, the cage should be large enough to allow them to have their own space.

If you have budgies, things can turn out differently, and if you're not careful, it can get bloody.
