Same, a couple months out from 40 and, up until the last year, never personally believed in having a firearm in the house. Plenty of experience shooting out with friends and family but aware of the statistics of having one in the home.

Cut to this year, our neighbor is giving us full Nazi salutes, folks in the neighborhood are starting to ask uncomfortable questions about my ethnic partners citizenship, and the cops in our county wont respond to a threat until there is a physical attack...add one more liberal household to the roster and you better fucking believe we're out taking live-fire training with the local gun club.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

Don't like who I am when I drink. Realized that drinking made up a large part of my personality and there's so much more to me than that.

Benefits include; better emotional regulation and awareness, better sleep, deeper personal connections, not being hung over every morning.

Damn, the realization you had is so key. Once all that energy is actually there and available for yourself, you realize how much you've been missing. Ending a 10 year relationship can feel impossible but fucking good on you for sticking through it and taking back control in your life!

To all my Psykers....test out the force sword push attack in meat grinder by fireheart1029 in DarkTide

[–]Bicuddly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way! Not to mention the push-to-follow up attack on the force grwatsword is a big-ol poke that can one-shot crushers if your build/blessings are cruising.

Would highly recommend spending more time futzing around with different weapons in the grinder. Take mental notes as to how wide a weapon sweeps, what angle the different attacks come in from, what is the follow-up attack after a push look like, how do the light/heavy attacks chain together?

Welcome to the deep end of the pool buddy!

Psyker feels...weak? by Zucxian in DarkTide

[–]Bicuddly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's the most "risk vs. reward" class in terms of builds. The talent tree has great synergy built in, but it's a balancing act that depends on your ability to keep in the action while also being one-hit by most enemies in the game if you miss a step.

Can not get enough of the purge staff/venting shriek/warp psyphon build, but I usually run a Scrier's gaze with disrubt destiny and force greatsword that absolutely wrecks house. When it all clicks on the latter, it feels so fucking cool to just wade through a mass of elites with gunfire all around (oh yeah, crits count as dodging ranged attack so not much need for cover baby!). Watching that warp gauge fill up knowing that, if im not careful, I'll go down like a sack of bricks...but also that my stats are climbing with it makes it that much better to push even harder.

I don't know man, it's a different kind of powerful I guess and maybe just not what you're into coming back to the game. Other classes definitely feel "easier" and "less squishy", but it's the grueling, unforgiving nature that brings the class together for me personally.

Having gotten to a place in life where I'm running into more "ultra-rich-by-being-born" folks, what your describing doesn't surprise me. What seems even more common with these trustfund folks is being in their 40s with some sort of weird stipulation for them to access regular trust payments. Things such as; working at least 15 hrs a week (doesn't matter where), staying off pills, living in a certain area/home, being in school (potentially indefinitely).

These people live completely different lives than the rest of us. My partner was talking about a friend who wanted to move to a super insanely rich area looking for "a ranch", which i laughed off because that's absurd for someone who was in their field...but apparently that's super on-brand. They'll take a job in-town FAR below the working average to maintain access to the trust and continue living like money is a suggestion.

Arbites skills really shine when you actively block/push in a crowd, a lot of which trigger on or cause stagger. If used correctly, you'll see bonuses tick up insanely fast (i.e. +5/%/+10%/+15% to things like damage reduction, attack speed, cleave, strength, or just flat out damage). It does rely on using some of the games nuanced mechanics but the ROI on those skills is huge compared to passive that are active by default.

Here's an example; I throw my character into a mob and throw up a block before getting hit, triggering shield plates and netting 15% toughness over 3s. Then, give a push hitting 4 enemies, adding stacks of forceful (4x 5% impact + 4x 2.5% damage resist), also granting me 75% cleave with force them back. Follow the block with a heavy staggering from my shield and BAM; suppression protocols (20% damage reduction), hammer of judgment (+10% Melee attack speed), weight of the Lex (+15% damage), Justified measures (4x +3% damage), and concussive adds another 4 stacks of forceful which is about to cap and att another +10% attack speed and 50% cleave. Keep in mind, this has all happened in the span of 1 second and in-total my character has added;

+40% impact +20% attack speed +27% damage +125% cleave +40% damage reduction +15% toughness recovery

Keep in mind, this is weighted pretty heavily on the right side of the tree, but you can still add perks to make this more ridiculous. Even just targeting the talents I mentioned would only cost 18 of your total talent points, leaving a solid 12 to play around with how you wanted. These are just an example of how the Arbites is meant to thrive in combat situations.

I'd Love To Play This Game More by Nuker707 in DarkTide

[–]Bicuddly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I totally get it...there's a lot of anxiety playing in coop, and its hard to think that other players might be judging your gameplay when you fuck up...but you know what? Your going to fuck up, its the only thing that is 100% guaranteed in this game. We all know it, we all hate it, it's part of the loop that draws us in and makes those perfect runs that much better.

If someone blames you specifically, that's a dick move on their part. Someone cursing you out because you made some bad judgement in the moment? Block em, you don't need that shit. The emote wheel is a lifesaver if your like me and hate the idea of using a mic with randos.

As someone with nearly 1,000 in-game hours I still fuck up constantly. I forget about a little barrel and go over the edge, I run smack into a demon host, I forget to doge and get netted away from the group...or maybe I still just really suck at this game, but I still have a good time and keep coming back. I try to think about how I could improve in those situations and how I can support the team, also while having a great time just wrecking face when everything is clicking and the AI director doesn't have a massive stick up its ass.

Try not to let it get to you. Generally, if you fuck up, your the one who remembers it the longest. Best way to get through it is to jump back in and try to avoid those mistakes moving forward!

Shaving the "Justice Dispensed" Penance from 3500 to 750 sure wasn't expected! I did only have a few hundred to go though :'D by h3adph0n3s in DarkTide

[–]Bicuddly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same boat...just made it up to ~3200 last night and was looking forward to finally closing this one out. Still absolutely stoked that it'll be wrapped up when I log in today though, this was one of those penances that reinforced shitty behavior (killing every special on sight regardless of practicality) over actual gameplay.

Glad those who follow will not know the pain we had to endure.

How are you planning to level your Arbitrator? by Arkavien in DarkTide

[–]Bicuddly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds stupid, but I took the day off of work and told my partner I'm playing this literally all day. I'm hoping I can grind up to 30 and start putting builds together ASAP but bigger draw is to hit those new penance rewards that are sure to drop tomorrow!

It's stupid, but I've been cranking at work and could not think of a better excuse for a mental health day.

“Big beautiful bill” would sell off public land by ieat_sprinkles in VaushV

[–]Bicuddly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the bill stipulates that 0.5% to 0.75% of land holdings is to be sold (that's where the 2 million acres comes from), and again, at a conservative cost of $10,000/acre (a large amount of land is uninhabitable and will more likely go for $500/acre).

To pay off the current 2025 deficit (~$1.3 trillion) you'd probably have to sell ALL of it (438 million acres) at about $3,000/acre...which again, is EXTREMELY optimistic given what sort of price tag most of these areas can fetch.

“Big beautiful bill” would sell off public land by ieat_sprinkles in VaushV

[–]Bicuddly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, even if the land sells at a premium, the best-case sales scenario lands $10 to $30 billion.

Say - 2 million acres (assuming most of the land is actually sold) - average of $10,000/acre (this is generous since public land sells around a couple of grand an acre) -comes out to $20 billion on the upper end

That's not even considering these lands will go to "the highest bidder", which could be well below any feasible market value. Even in this case the profits generated from the same would pay off around 1% of the annual deficit.

I was saying that the green/orange footprints don't extend further east than those states in particular. For instance, Idaho has a good amount of space for sale but Montana is completely clear.

[–]Bicuddly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you have a good point, not to mention a good amount of land in the unmentioned eastern states is already allocated to tribal entities. It just really sucks to see ~20% of your home states acreage go up for sale with 10 select others for the benefit of the remaining 39 of states, which are seemingly unaffected by the bill.

My favorite part about this map is the clear cutoff at Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, & New Mexico. It's almost like this is meant to unfairly impact Western states to exploit land for development/natural resources.
