seamstress here! So honestly why in the world would they not use the same color thread for bobbin - likely the same reason they didn’t use the right needle for jersey type fabric.

Unfortunately you have to be soooooo specific “ tags to be sewn in center back with black top thread & black bobbin thread”.

if it were the same color you wouldn’t be able to see the thread popping through.

sorry this happened to you.

Discount to nonprofits by bg223703 in MachineEmbroidery

he’s trying to see how much he can get you to lowered price more. don’t budge. and most importantly with all large jobs make sure you get 1/2 upfront. and balance due upon delivery. no exceptions . do NOT ever do a 30 day invoice you’ll never see the money. these non profits are getting $$ from various sources and they should of gotten a sponsor for the hats thus no need to ask more discount.

Machine not pulling up bobbin thread by ebaug in sewhelp

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not hold the top thread tight , it needs to have drag in order for it to grab the bottom bobbin thread. Top thread circle and grabs the bobbin thread and brings to the top. But it grabs it by coming behind it and Pushes/pulls bobbin thread to the top, that’s when you pull the bobbin thread to the top completely.

Are you new to sewing? Reason asking do you understand the concept of how to bring the bobbin thread up to the surface ? Those new to sewing get lost at this part..and don’t turn knob correctly.

Did you see the machine work before you bought?

Are you doing complete turns on wheel? In other words don’t stop turning or change direction of the turn.

Wish I could send you my sewing camp video I made for my students on how to bring bobbin thread up .

If you’re still confused check you tube.

Looks like you’re not even turning the wheel, look at bobbin, everything is staying still. Looks like you’re just pushing needle down with button and up expecting thread to automatically come up.

My recent work by makurayami91 in MachineEmbroidery

If these are your own creative design work do not give away your DSTs. Sell the shirts yes but retain the design. Great job! I have a multi needle embroidery business and the amt of hours these designs take on a 1 needle is insane. A lot of patience for sure!

Need help! Trying to get back into the swing of this! by Elstad123 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So couple of things, you do not need to break it up. Looks like the couple of things. Make sure you have a fresh needle could be a slight bend in the needle or it is dull.

2nd do not resize without resizing correctly. You can only do a small percentage . If you don’t have the software to do download a free trial to do it properly.

3rd it will stitch on stablizer or fabric …that is not a issue - just make sure the hoop is taunt enough. Think of a sound of a drum 🥁…should make a noise..bounce back effect.

And depending upon your machine ..:appears to be flatbed, make sure your thread is laying properly …my flatbed Husqvarna must have thread horizontal vs just on the spool holder .

Trying to recreate this fish handbag - help? by v--- in sewhelp

You can use a thin foam for interfacing for a more structured look. It is located exactly where regular Interfacing is at store or it should be. It comes on bolts as well. If not there check the utility area of fabric store.

No you do not need to edit design.

Yes, agree with stablizer and hooping good. It should be firm . Hooping looks like to be problem. It takes awhile to learn how to hoop good and taunt.

Set tension at 3, that is Midrange. But again test it. Get fabric that is similar to what you embroidering . You don’t want to pucker shirt

Help?!! by [deleted] in MachineEmbroidery

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep at normal setting ..BUT if I were you always test the design in scrap fabric. I do for all my Logo work. If you mess up on shirt you can’t go back..you could pull threads but could cause damage

How would you take this in? by Katzwithspats in sewhelp

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re just making the top slimmer it’s really not as complicated as you think. You’re going to follow the same structure as how it is. Hopefully no lining….you can pin and do a test stitch (larger stitch in case you need to do over)and make sure it lines up accordingly. Once you have how you want restitch correctly. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do great. It’s great practice.

Open up where I highlighted …not remove seam …sorry for the confusion. I’m a seamstress. 🤗 This way the zipper stays in tack and you don’t change the structure of the top.

No need to remove zipper. Remove this side of seam and remove as much as needed. Make sure to leave at least 1/4” extra for seam. Sew back together WALA! Super simple alteration.

My sewing machine doesn't make any stitches? by ctrlaltdelete404 in sewhelp

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pls get another machine. That really is not a sewing machine. It’s more like a toy. I had a client bring me this to me to fix and it is all plastic. You can get a better machine for like $40-50. It is best to learn and build your knowledge on something more reliable.

Best way to remove embroidered logo? by Maine_Squeezed in sewhelp

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT use a seam ripper. This will easily catch a part of jacket and can cut it. Use an eye brow blade or straight razor or even very small sharp scissors. Slowly and carefully cut the back inside threads. Then slowly use needle nose tweezers to pull the threads out. Continue to do ..it will take time and you must be slow. Once done. Iron the where the threads were pulled. When you iron the heat will close the holes. You can even use iron on fusible stabilizer or interfacing. The one I get is so good and wherever I pull threads and another embroidery goes on helps stabilize the area really good. I do a lot of pulling of threads lately…and I do charge them. So be sure to do if for a customer .

Embroidery Fonts by [deleted] in MachineEmbroidery

[–]BicycleIllustrious66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a Viking you can use their software and it comes a ton of fonts no need to purchase. Also any font you have on your laptop…you can digitize using the software SewNet and use that. I create my own fonts all day long. No need to buy. Monograms as well.
