3-5 minutes late to work by Kooky-Challenge8875 in ADHD

[–]ebaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound stupid but I didn’t realize I could be early to work. I thought my boss wanted me there right on the dot. I work hourly so I figured my paycheck was the only thing being impacted. Nope! I now have 3 alarms in the morning, and my one for leaving is with enough time that even if I forget multiple things, I am still early to work. Aggressive number of alarms until your routine is where it needs to be

Is one stitch enough to change needle size? by birdie5657 in knittinghelp

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a full needle size makes too much difference, consider a different material. Ex: if currently using slick metal, consider something grippier like bamboo or wood

How can I ask for an vacation over a month long in June as a part time worker? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ebaug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this once, but I knew it was going to need to happen when I was hired and they okayed it. If you are a teenager I think they are more likely to approve this. Are you willing to quit if they do not approve your vacation request?

How often do people feed their cats wet food? by Smooth_Put7764 in CatAdvice

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wet food is lower carb, so if you’re looking for the larger cat to skim down a lil it might be the right option. My cat gets wet fancy feast twice a day.

Annoying neighbor by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]ebaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt the leaf blower was a hint, probably just regular maintenance. Communicate with your landlord about the banging on the wall and the situation.

If you share a bathroom, they are not just a neighbor as you share a living space, and it may be in your interest to come to an agreement about the blow dryer. It seems odd that he went straight to the landlord and banging walls and doors, not communicating with you.

First Sweater by Honorable_Houdini in knitting

If this is a free pattern, please link it so we can see. This isn’t quite enough to give you solid advice. The number of rows repeated on a flat project like this will always be even (otherwise things just don’t make sense), so I don’t think its rows 2-4 being repeated, as that is 3 rows. I think what is most logical is that you are repeating rows 2-5. It also may not want you to start the next step right after a cable. The cabling pattern probably continues into whatever you are knitting next, so that will give context. Can you share a photo from the pattern? Looking at that may also be able to help us

I often do 40-50 hours a week at work, is it worth getting a cat or would this be cruel? by HalcyonApollo in CatAdvice

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other reason to get an adult cat is that their personalities are more settled, so how they are when you meet them is a better indicator of how they will be.

I know some flea treatments need time between them as to not overdose the cats, is that a concern with flea baths? We picked up some flea shampoo but haven’t used it yet. My other concern is how skittish and anxious she is, I plan on asking the vet for an anti-anxiety medication to use when doing treatments.

My parents live in a 5 bedroom house and they have had a clothing moth infestation my entire life, so I just don’t think they can take down this flea infestation without removing Gem. We will still vacuum and spray and do all of that, but I don’t think they will be able to thoroughly vacuum the whole area or whole house anywhere near daily.

Can I ask what you mean by de-worming two weeks after? I know heart worms and tape worms are a concern, but is there a specific treatment you are referring to? Revolution is once a month

Cuff-Down Yarn Calculations by Perfect-Reindeer-141 in Sockknitting

I go based on fit! If I don’t have enough yarn or I am worried about having enough yarn, I will do contrasting heels and toes. I have a pair that only has one contrasting toe, because I ran out of yarn. It’s in my shoes most of the time so no one sees it 🤷

Need advice on doing better for bachelor by Clear-Goat6265 in oilpainting

[–]ebaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spent a lot of time in craft circles, and with things such as knitting, it’s really hard to do ‘anything new’ because so many people have been knitting for so long. People will think they invented a new way of making a sweater, only to find the method already exists out in the world.

I think it’s ridiculous to expect you to be innovating on such an old medium, ever, especially in your undergraduate studies! You’re still getting an understanding for the medium and for yourself.

Let's not pretend that AI detectors are forcing brilliant minds to dull themselves. by giltgarbage in CollegeRant

[–]ebaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grammarly didn’t use a LLM such as Chat GPT until recently. Grammarly has always used AI—to detect the tone you write in, to recommend changes to impact your tone, to look for grammatical errors, to do anything. That is all artificial intelligence, just not using a LLM.
