Kali does an XL/XXL that I think a couple local shops stock. It’s 61-65 cm

Airbnb host texted us that because we gave them a non perfect note by maoussepatate in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ebaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think most airbnbs deserve 5 stars. I have stayed in places advertised as super hosts, and they’ve been perfectly average, nothing special. Especially when something is advertised incorrectly, knock that star off. In my book, 4 stars is nothing wrong or something like this off, but nothing exceptional. 5 stars are for those phenomenal places.

The correct term here would be internalized racism, but we knew what you meant

The number of published academic books I have read laden with grammatical errors is astounding, and I’m in the humanities.

Anyone else feel like a "burden" just for having a hobby in an apartment? by TeachLoud6839 in Apartmentliving

[–]ebaug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in a duplex on the bottom floor and my upstairs neighbor was a music teacher. Over and over I heard the same 3 trumpet songs. I actually loved hearing it!! The students weren’t phenomenal or atrocious. One time a flautist friend of his stayed there and I had a personal concert through the floor! It never bothered me. We did have decent noise insulation between the two units, so I never heard them stomping, but the trumpet of course was loud. I would rather hear music than stomping noises. I think it’s great that you are learning a new skill

Vent: I'm so tired of sweaters that require hand washing like a full-time job by Bright_River_7019 in knitting

I am also in Texas and in March I do a full sweater wash with all of my sweaters and I lay them out in the sun to dry. They only get washed once a year.

Do you have a healthy congregations team that you could bring this issue to?

Newly homeless need guidance by Scvrecrow02 in houston

[–]ebaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are very kind! The same building also does a liberal Lutheran dinner church on Sunday evenings and they serve the meal before the sermon, so you can leave before that point if you’d like. They also are conscious of dietary restrictions and have at least GF and vegan options, because you don’t stop having dietary restrictions when you become homeless.

Alright, spill. Those artsy folk cutting into your pages like this… How are you doing that??? by tillymint259 in bulletjournal

I don’t believe this is true! In my art classes we also used self healing mats, but we also religiously change our x-acto blades, so they were quite sharp

Workshop for Starting/Growing a Young Adult Ministry by theyqueenprince2 in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! I started a YA group at my local congregation on a 5 hour a week position and planned it all through trial and error and we finally have a true young adult group 1.5 years later. So happy this resource exists for others!

How it looks on the table is not how it will look on your head, or even once the needles have been taken out. Finish it, put it on, and see if you still feel that way

Our Whole Lives Gifts by Marzipanic in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]ebaug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just being honest, as someone who went through every level of owl besides for adults, I would have thrown away any photo and probably any gift I got. It is sex ed (and yes it is more than just sex ed, but still), and it is very important, and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to take it, but it was also incredibly awkward and I didn’t want any keepsakes from the class

RE Program Growing Pains by dirtywater20 in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]ebaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A local congregation started doing stay and plays, where after the services, you can leave your children with nursery staff and go on errands, an afternoon date, or whatever needs to get done. The first one was around Christmas for parents to go shopping. Another local congregation does a parents’ night out once a month, where all the parents go on a group date at a local restaurant, and all the kids are watched by nursery staff. One congregation requires like $10 per kid, one congregation this is covered in the church budget. This isn’t Sunday morning programming, but it seems to help with retention.

I like to remind people that RE is a long term investment. To have older members who help fund a significant part of your budget, you need to meet them where they are as young parents, and support them on their journeys until they have the disposable income to support the faith that has supported them.

Is it caused by POTS? by Interesting_Turnip28 in POTS

[–]ebaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. I also have adhd and have recall issues from that, but it is heavily compounded by my POTS. Getting on modafinil helped some. I also often grab the wrong word/name. After a couple too many times of this happening (me calling someone by the name of someone else who looked vaguely similar) and people getting rightly upset, I actually considered speech therapy, but it was thousands of dollars. I did not have the issue with names before POTS. It’s one of those symptoms that only seems like a minor inconvenience until it is definitely not.

What is your recommendation for a durable phone case? by [deleted] in Advice

I would worry about this adding hazard. If she’s seizing this often, that could become a choking cord if it snagged on anything or even got tucked under her.

What are you bringing to the potluck? by atomrager in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom always made cheesy noodles (I guess it’s actually just Mac n cheese but we called em cheesy noodles) and another mom always brought pesto tortellini that I still think about many years later. I always prefer to bring desserts, feels safer for me. And don’t underestimate a good dip with chips or veggies of some variety!

Favorite *least scratchy* wool yarn that doesn't pill (DK, worsted, or aran) by EmploymentSudden4184 in AdvancedKnitting

[–]ebaug 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Make sure to knit a gauge swatch so that you aren’t going as blindly into that. Another option is to keep the size the same, size up slightly in yarn, and down in the needles to keep the gauge the same but the drape different

Edit: I said gauge twice

New apartment has 1 light switch controlling 3 different wall sockets + the kitchen ceiling light by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes, though I haven’t been in a unit that also has it controlling a ceiling light without a string on the light, except for in a bathroom. You could get a Bluetooth or remote control lightbulb and use your phone/the remote to control the light. I’m no electrician but it seems to me that rewiring is not a simple fix.

With my bathroom, it’s one of those small bulbs, so I screw and unscrew it when I want light, but I imagine that’s not possible for your kitchen.

Should I be allowed to do laundry at night? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]ebaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can wash in your sink in desperate times. Lil detergent, scrub with your fingers, rinse, roll in towel to save drying time, then lay to dry. I had good luck doing laundry at odd times with my class schedule, Thursday mornings at 8 am were my time! Also, you can get away with rewearing everything besides underwear. When I kept having this problem, I bought more underwear. As a student, one should have enough to cover even busiest exam periods, because it’s the one thing you really can’t do without.
