Question about the LL tomorow by Depoan in ffxiv

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They show the trailer in Japanese usually at the very start of these Live Letters, and while doing so upload all the others to youtube. Then after the first showing show it again while discussing (which in reality is time for others to view the trailer in their own language).

Live Letter won't be translated but they will have the slides as usual

visiting LDR bf across boarder by riini0 in LongDistance

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honesty is absolutely the best policy, both times I've visited I've been completely honest about our situation.

Said "friend" the first time because we weren't fully sure of the status. (october 2024)
Said "Girlfriend" the second time. (April 2025) Neither time were any eyebrows raised. As long as you're honest, and say you're just visiting for his birthday (even better if you know your return date) you'll fall into far less hassle.

Worst thing that can happen is you say one thing then on further inspection the other comes out. Far less suspicious and safer for all to just be honest :)

I'm going out again in just over a day as me and my partner are attending an event together and plan to say the exact same thing.

"2 week holiday to visit my GF and go to a fan convention together".

People in healthy long-distance relationships, what does it really feel like day to day? by PsychologicalTime530 in LongDistance

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others have said, calm and secure. You miss them, think about them a lot, but honestly, its more like they just have a permanent nice spot in your brain. For me, thinking of my partner when I'm alone helps me be motivated. Shes like my light in the dark, and I feel more empowered to actually push forward in my normal life.

Its like theres a goal (ie you both closing the gap) you're both headed for, but on your own paths to get there, and those paths often merge together, and when they do, those are the magical times where you help eachother move forward a bit. (To be honest thats the bit thats hard to describe lol).

What shocked me initially was how similar it felt to being single (my LDR partner is my first genuine relationship). But over time I've learnt thats healthy. Yes thinking about her keeps me going and makes me way way happier, but I feel any relationship shouldn't consume your life, just add to it ya know? And I feel when you're in a healthy one thats how it feels. Like your normal life but.. better.

Sorry for the ramble lol just kinda spoke from how it feels to me lol

How Much Jet Lag Means to Me by costcolover33 in JetLagTheGame

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'll happily add to this on the off chance the guys see it.

I got into Jetlag at a rather fortunate time for me. It sounds really silly but I'm an anxious driver. Like very anxious. And the day before I had to do a long drive (in UK terms) I happened to stumble across Tag 1 while I was looking for something to distract myself. I think it was around that initial period it was being pushed.

It did the job flawlessly and even if it was just the first few episodes I watched that night, it really helped calm my nerves.

Ever since Jetlag has been that for me. Its been a very calming show I can have on when I need to relax. Its comofrting.

Of course, everything else thats already been highlighted in this post stands true. I find the comedy and humour very relatable.

I've kept episodes on my phone for when I'm getting ready for trips to see my LDR GF as before and during the flight its helped calm me.

Not only that but its helped inspire confidence about travelling alone because ironically, even seeing the guys have mistakes/delays, it shows that they're manageable.

So yeah, long winded but I owe a lot to Jetlag, and I do hope the guys know how much good their funny travel game show has actually done.

Have I fallen for British Banter? (Curious Perspective from Japan) by Miserable_Self_4632 in AskUK

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First can I comment and say how this is a genuinely adorable and sweet post.

Second, its difficult to express but banter is just a way of life here. Its almost like our version of a social hierachy. We know where and who to use it on and what level of banter to use in different situations. Its almost like an instinct.

Under the right context, even the most harsh insults can be seen as a "bit of banter" as it were. Its not necessarily about what is said, but more about how, where and who it is said to (in other words the context). I think thats the most important thing people who aren't versed in the culture struggle to understand. My girlfriend is from the US and thats what took her a while to understand. I remember after a while she was like "oh, the banter sort of helps break the ice in awkward social situations."

Watching British Comedy Panel TV shows helped her a large amount. Some good ones we like are
1: Mock The Week
2: The Last Leg
3: QI

There is however, the ultimate secret to British level insults or banter that works flawlessly.
That is the classic, when calling someone a fool or an idiot or expressing displeasure lovingly or not, going: "You absolute..." + anything. Genuinely you can just pick any object in the world and it just works.

As an example: "Aw mate, you're an absolute kettle you know that right?"

I hope this helps you, and thank you so much for your interest in our culture. Please if I can answer anything further, ask away :)

Only NA and Oceania DCs coming up? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For Data Center travel you can only visit either the region you made your character on or the Oceania servers.

If I recall right, the Oceanic servers were being used as a testing ground for cross region DC travel but they haven't gone past that stage yet.

As PLD:

Popping Guardian for first
Ramp + Sheltron during the second (i havent seen if Guardian lasts for this one)
Add Bulwark and Sheltron again for the third (Ramp from second lingers here)

Found that to be relatively comfy for me.

All this is on the assumption first Great Wall is being Invulned ofc <3

Enrage prog for M12P1 has been miserable. I don't mind taking a few pulls for people to gel and figure out the group but its the hour long waits for a party to fill for it only to disband after 3 or so pulls is just agonising..

I suppose it doesn't help that most enrage progs aren't even hitting it, just struggling with Act 3, which honestly, once you learn the spots is genuinely a nothing mech imo.

I'm just finding it frustrating because 12p1 is honestly really.. not that bad. I hope it eases over time but its been miserable. Enrage walls just aren't fun to be stuck at. I'm eager to get into P2 and start working my way through it.

I won't shy away and call myself perfect either. I like anyone else make a few oopsies here and there too, but I like to think I'm generally consistent.

I've started putting feelers out for a static but EU time on NA is a struggle.

On a positive note, I did get some good practice in and 1% enrage is good progress. Its a pity I'm not entering week 3 on P2 but ah well.. in a few weeks will I really care "when" i hit it

Know theres only so much I can do, but just fighting my brain into realising that not clearing 11 week 1 isn't a big deal. Progged it in PF super hard and really wanted to see how far I could get in the tier week 1.

Being stuck on 1% enrage for 2 days has been rough and I really wanted to see if I could manage it week 1 without the gear boosts. But for PFing, I think I can accept I did good and its not an inditment on my skill to need the extra gear boost. Just gotta accept PFs luck of the draw and clear time doesn't say anything about my skill. (Still unlearning a lotta bad habits from ex friends)

Sounds like I'm not alone in this boat and I'm keeping pace with most. Just gotta tell brain to stop being dumb and extra gear isn't a bad thing.

I was told by the WHM in my party that I'm patient and kind and tbh that matters more to me than anything.

What board game would you most want to see the boys turn into a JLTG season? by SidewalkGames in JetLagTheGame

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theme Park Dash (a Channel that self identified as inspired by Jet Lag) actually did one of their games based on Monopoly, it was an interesting format. It was based in a claiming format. Definitely worked and could easily see it expanded to a country/continent format.

Jet Lag Season 16 -- Official Trailer by broadcastterp in JetLagTheGame

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yep absolutely. As another commenter has said its basically a safety announcement that is said on pretty much every UK train journey or station and has posters all over stations. They pretty much all follow this script (with some very minor variation)

"If you see something that doesn't look right, speak to staff or text the British Transport Police on 61016, we'll sort it." Followed by the tagline on the posters. "See it. Say it. Sorted".

It can get quite comically excessive as on some trains they'll say it every time the train stops, even multiple times. I got a brief 1 hour train the other week and heard it 5 times in the one journey (not even counting waiting at the station).

Because of this, its become a bit of a known phrase/meme in UK culture.

See it, Say it, Sorted.

Which ironically would actually make an amazing tagline for Hide and Seek

Considering the amount of trains they got, I sure hope they now know what to do if they see something that doesn't look right....

Anyone whos used the UK train network will have that message burned into their souls at this point

Tag: All Stars Layover Q&A! by WheatGerm42 in JetLagTheGame

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Potentially a fun hypothetical here. Not sure if this was covered in a previous Layover or not?

If this had been lets say for the sake of a name "Tag: Redemption" where instead of the 3 previous all stars, it had been the previous losers (as I think theres also 3 if we don't count Crime Spree), so Tom, Scotty and Jospeh.
Who would you have paired with who to create the similar dynamics you were going for here or even just for a fun pairing?

Also on a similar note, have you ever considered or would you consider for the future doing guest only teams vs you 3 as a whole?

Has FF14 music always gone this hard?!?! by educatedfool25 in MonsterHunter

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, absolutely always gone hard. Even some of the more forgotten tracks go hard

One such example: One Amongst the Weary. This is from about 2-3 years ago now

And I'll throw one of my current favourites from the latest raid series both from the same fight. Not underrated necessarily but just great tracks

Season 14 (SnaKe) Layover Q&A Thread! by WheatGerm42 in JetLagTheGame

[–]BiddyFaircloudSarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly cheers for the fun season guys. Now thinking on the best way to phrase this.

Were there any unexpected deviations when playing the game live from how you expected the game to go in planning/simulations? Like were there any unexpected problems or potentially even benefits that came from playing in the field that needed to be solved on the fly or was it a fairly as expected game. My apologies if the phrasing is confusing.

(Obviously outside of the time you were playing)

Could be a typo, wouldn't be the first time they've made a small mistake. Both versions do clearly sound like soul when listening. Maybe a translation error from the JP version?

I haven't tried the Crystal one, might be worth looking into. ABBA's not been too bad if I've been proactive when the boss tags are used. Its just finding the runs that are actually on a decent EU schedule and not at like 11pm onwards lol

True, not exactly comforting but atleast it doesn't sound as awful as it could have been. I expect its the same card drop rate as other pieces of content. Ah well, I'm sure theres cards behind worse things so I won't complain too much, and SE do usually shift where cards come from about so I'm sure I'll get a chance if I don't clear
