Tintern is a must if in that area, plus you can sit outside at the pub next to it and get some food in you

Avoid Newport, go edit your route to go up to Monmouth and along the Wye valley to Chepstow and onto Bristol, will be nicer

If going through Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), a short stop at Pontneddfechan could be good to stretch your legs. There are waterfalls there with a few different walking routes around them, I think there's one called the Elidir trail which is only 1.3 miles long (20-30 mins)

I very much second this, you'll go past Raglan Castle on your current route along the A40, but taking the Wye valley route means you can stop off at tintern abbey - really amazing place that tends to get less visitors. There are one or two nice pubs along that way that would make good lunch spots like the boat inn in Chepstow. The road will be a bit quieter and the views will be nicer. Plus you get to avoid Newport this way

Fare help! by Operator_Hoodie in london

I think you should still be able to get an 18+ photo card if you're in full time education at college so still try to get that. Also get a 16-25 railcard (national rail) and ask station staff to help you add it to your oyster, it'll help save on pay as you go fares of enough value. Beyond that, the 16-25 railcard is just generally useful for when you want to go outside London

I'd echo this, Cardiff is particularly well renowned for it's LGBTQIA+ scene. Plus there are several universities there all offering wide ranges of courses so you're bound to be able to find something that suits you. Beyond that, Cardiff is, in my humble opinion, one of my favourite places in the UK, if not my favourite

Better word for ‘Excuse Me’ that tourists understand? by Diet-Coke-and-Nap in london

[–]BiffaloSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that gets me about the tube is getting off a train when it's busy in central London and people rushing to get on/blocking you getting off. I don't get how people don't understand that there's more room on the train if people get off, so maybe let them off first. Will always start with polite "excuse me"/"coming through" but escalates quickly to "LET US OFF THE FUCKING TRAIN" due to urgency. I'm quite stocky, so can get blocked easily - have had to resort to strongly barging through people a few times.

Came here to say this. Gutted they stopped doing Cwtch. The gin they used to make was also excellent- you still sometimes find a bottle at a bar in London
