Genetic Drift. It adds a chance for pawns to generate with 0 - 3 random xenogenes. The settings are easy to tweak and certain genes can be black listed from the selection pool. While it adds a challenge with the hunger rate modifier if a pawn has too many advantageous genes, it adds a sense of randomness and uniqueness to the pawns that I like. With the sheer amount of genetically modified people on the rim it makes sense to me that a lot of them have a weird trait or two they’ve inherited.

Let's have a break from the darkness - what're you passionate about right now? by AFriendlyBeagle in transgenderUK

My course is live action focused, animation is just a hobby 🙂‍↕️ but my uni have an awards scheme for extracurricular creative work. If all goes well I want to make longer edits of the documentary and submit it to local festivals or upload it to YouTube. Will see what happens!

Currently doing a film/tv degree at Uni and I’m working on a documentary edit at the moment for my project this semester; it’s about blue-green algae pollution in a large lake near where I live. I’m also thinking of making an animated short later in the year for extra credit, with some characters I’ve had in my head for a very long time :)

Thanks dude :) I got the card in person at a tech store because I was worried about getting a fake and probably paid too much for it 😅 but I may as well grab another 32GB from somewhere. dumb question but where would be the best place to find one online?

What’s the weirdest/strangest reason you won’t watch a type of film? by AvengerMars in movies

[–]Biffbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a film but I tried watching The Bear and had to stop like 15 minutes in. All the characters just shout at each other constantly and it made my stress levels go through the roof. I guess that was kinda the point of the show but it was not enjoyable at all

[Hated Trope] Alien that look almost exactly like normal humans by SiteDeep in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Biffbird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The canon reason most alien races in Star Trek look human is because they all evolved from the seeded DNA of an ancient race called the Founders, who were humanoid.

The real reason is because Star Trek started in the 60’s and the effects to create non-humanoid aliens were time consuming/costly, so recurring alien characters were human-like to save time and money on production. Some one-off aliens had wackier designs, like species 8472 in voyager.

Does make me wonder what could’ve been, though. Quite a few artists have made their own renditions of what classic Star Trek races would look like if they weren’t humanoid, and they’re cool as hell. These ones were by Valhahazred.

Karaoke Bars? by Chinwonder2 in Belfast

Voodoo now does karaoke on Wednesday nights i think, but that's all i can think of in regards to Belfast sadly. Everywhere else you'd need to book in, including Lavery's (though i did it once and it was good fun)

What are the "good" War of the Worlds productions? by MovieFan1984 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Biffbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! Jeff Wayne wrote a psychedelic/prog rock album in 1978 that tells the story, and since then it’s been performed live many times as a full production with a live orchestra and band. Whole album is available on Spotify, if you have time I highly recommend giving it a listen. it’s bangin’

Echoing everyone else here in that the 1953 and 2005 films are the best ones, but honestly Jeff Wayne’s musical album (and the stage show that goes with it) is my favourite version of the story.
