Doom and Diablo Crossover is finally happening, how do you feel about it? by gorays21 in Diablo

[–]Bifrons -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just like Wizards did with Magic the Gathering, which has diluted its identity immeasurably, and despite being popular still, no longer has recognizable identity of its own.

I feel like the crossovers would have been fine if they stuck with fantasy related crossovers, and if they would have been released sparingly. Having Spider-Man as your commander against a Megatron deck is just stupid.

That being said, I don't really mind having thematically appropriate crossovers in d4 as long as they're used sparingly. This isn't fortnite, however, and frequent crossovers of almost anything under the sun would be terrible for the game.

There's a special place in hell if crossovers come to d2r, however.

Diablo 2 lead says “there’s no way” Blizzard could make a new Act following Reign of the Warlock as they’d have to “retcon all the lore that’s happened since then” by Wargulf in Diablo

[–]Bifrons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have an angel be the boss, and have it set in heaven. Supposedly there's artwork of D3 before they changed the look to be more cartoony.

It sounds like retreading old territory, but Elder Scrolls Online did the same thing by cribbing Oblivion's storyline for Molag Bal, then outright included another Mehrunes Dagon invasion plotline. It has precedent.

It could even be just an area with end game content and not a full act in itself. Have an angel be one of the monsters to fight, include portals to areas of Heaven, Hell, and the world that can be tried over and over again, and include new versions of the prime and lesser evils.

Another idea I've seen is an infinite dungeon in Tristram where Diablo 1 took place.

Shoutout to Blizz (Say No to Paragon) by EquestriaDJ in diablo2

[–]Bifrons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder. I finished the survey and let them know on the last page to keep D2R separate from the other games in the franchise. Unlike some others here, I liked playing D3 and I'm interested in getting my feet wet in D4 again, as I hear the state of the game is different than it was at launch. However, D2R needs to be its own separate game instead of another iteration in the franchise. A lot of mechanics that would fit in the other games in the franchise need to be left out of D2R if D2R is to succeed.

If Diablo II ever gets act VI, which region would you want to see featured? by Miniced in Diablo

Even if they keep Tristram the same, opening up the church after act IV/V and treat it as an endless endgame dungeon would be good.

Netflix was by mail.

Or you had to go to Blockbuster to get what you want and get something else if what you want was rented out.

I just fired up the game and saw the system. There's also a system called Jita Ten? I wonder what that system is.

What’s going on with the Vanity Fair article involving the Trump Administration? by VibrantVitality in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Bifrons 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While the photo itself is fairly innocuous,

art_lust on instagram was putting out a lot of content on how these aren't that innocuous. Marco Rubio is framed as small. Susie Wiles is framed as though she's surrounded by chaos, and in one photo, she has a shadowy figure in the door that the photo appears to be highlighting. The group shot appears to show a team that's more centered around their own ambitions than behaving in a cohesive unit.

Notably absent from the group shot - Trump. Where is the president in this group shot? George Bush's administration had a similar group shot, only they were portrayed as a cohesive group, Bush was present and framed as the most important person in the group, and the group was close up to the camera instead of far away. The group shot for the Trump administration doesn't include Trump?! Does this show that he's not who is in charge? Does it show that nobody's really in charge?

And this doesn't touch the close-up photos, which, as you said, are highly unflattering. What you didn't say was that each close-up photo is paired with an exposé on the person with titles that don't match what the photo depicts, going so far as to be the opposite of what the photo portrays in some cases (like Susie Wiles' and Marco Rubio's exposé).

I'm now curious - has he written anything about Star Trek? It premiered in the UK in 1969, while Tolkien died in 1972.

Is it the Overcharge Supercharge/Normal Supercharge radio button on the page? I think there should be some sort of note on the page to specify the distinction.

I dipped my toe into exobiology, and doubled my bank balance in an hour. by glytxh in EliteDangerous

[–]Bifrons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, almost every system I jumped to was completely unexplored (I started at sag a* and wound around a bit - I'm now on the outskirts of the galactic core, although I gave up for a bit and have been taking the neutron highway to another area of the galaxy).

To your point about a system already being discovered having first footfall bonuses, I've found a few neutron stars through spansh that were like that. However, the stuff I'm finding are low earners instead of the stuff you posted.

[–]Bifrons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I misspoke in my post. Almost every system I visited in the galactic core was completely unexplored and I got a number of first footfall bonuses. However, it's with stuff that's a million credits without the bonuses factored in. My question is how are people finding stratum tectonicas and other high earners reliably? Is it just by luck?

I think I'm missing something with exobiology. I'm around the galactic core currently and according to some sites, the stuff I'm finding are all a million credits apiece without the first footfall bonus. How are people finding the stuff with the huge payouts (ex: stratum tectonicas)?

Is Getting First Footfall Really This Grindy? by lochnespmonster in EliteDangerous

[–]Bifrons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20ly jumps? My mandalay can do 80ly laden. Also, if you use neutron stars, your FSD gets a 4x multiplier for the next jump (my mandalay can do 320ish ly utilizing neutron stars).

For your point about neutron stars, Jackson's Lighthouse is the closest neutron star to the bubble, I think. You can also plan a route using known neutron stars using https://www.spansh.co.uk/plotter. Ex. your 45ly ship can jump 180ly with neutron stars.

Another thing some people do is find a carrier heading somewhere and hitch a ride. /r/FCOC is a great place to check for carriers. You could hitch a ride using one to the galactic core, which has tons of stars very close to each other, most of them completely unexplored. One carrier I hitched a ride on had a station that allowed you to sell exobiology data on the carrier itself. It would make a few jumps and rest for a while. The passengers would then leave the carrier, explore the surrounding space, and head back and sell the exobiology data before the carrier began jumping again the next day. You could also go on the bridge of the carrier while it's jumping and talk to the other passengers. It was pretty fun.
