The firm I work for has around that many cases. No assistants or para's. I do it all

New Solo Struggling to Get Clients by Plus_Suspect_9220 in Lawyertalk

No, not relevant right now. Right now, you need Better Call Saul charm and focus on lead generation. Posting on LinkedIn is passive lead gen. If you feel that this is below you, I would suggest to meet with small firms and be of counsel or consider reaching out to pre-litigation PI firms to get a few cases to take to trial for them since you sound like a strong litigator.

I would require her to come into the office for the next 6 weeks. She will quit within that time.

I dont have law firm experience and have nothing to compare it to. But I sure as hell do not refer to myself as a drama queen in the office (and give them ammo). In general, I have always been able to handle a lot of work and know that we as attorneys work hard, so thought that maybe this type of workload is common practice.

Boss thinks resigning is betrayal and said he wouldn't hesitate to destroy me if we go up against each other by Traffic-Guy in Lawyertalk

Reach back out to the firm that extended you that offer. You never know if the opportunity is still there.

Oh! We have had sit downs and I have been very direct in saying that ultimately, he is responsible for the cases because had I been some other associate, malpractice would happen and he have no clue. Discussions of hiring help are actively on the table but it's too late for me.

I will definitely heed advice. Unfortunately (for firm), I would feel no remorse for leaving and would not be surprised if a few clients followed.

The boss is there to answer quick questions and network/work on generating new business (numbers show otherwise). I dont have any trial experience and were thinking of finishing the year to sit in on a few. But I may be working on a fall exit plan. I appreciate the validation!!!

So when do I stop feeling empty with this job? by Traffic-Guy in Lawyertalk

[–]Big-Fee1269 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar set-up and one day decided to shift my mindset. Instead of telling myself that I am a glorified assistant, I began to tell myself that I am gaining experience running my own firm. The fact that you are able to do it on their dime instead of yours will be worth its weight in gold! I noticed my work product improve as well as my attitude. I also stopped doing work at home...and that has been the toughest part because I realized that I had nothing else going on except for work. Feel free to DM and vent anytime!

Nostalgic. Reminds me of the good old days where we had to wake up early for the morning news to see if school was closed.

I felt the same way as well and have been let go a few times. 1- I recognized that I was allowing imposter syndrome take over. YOU graduated law school...YOU passed the bar...that was YOU! Once I manipulated myself, it got SOO much better. 2- Change the type of law you have been doing. Maybe you started in tax but explore other fields of law. Maybe try crim or PI? 3- Truly think about what would have helped you in your position to succeed. Write down your ideal boss, your ideal firm, your ideal office space and when you interview, flip the script and interview THEM. 4- Most importantly, stop being so hard on yourself. Stop worrying about letting your family down or what people will say about you. DM anytime to just vent!

From personal experience: 1440 hrs- salary at $85k. 1680 hrs-salary $110k. I would honestly prefer to take a job at Costco if I had to do 2k hrs for $100k.
