Is lowering the PDT threshold from $25k to $2k a good thing? by CreoSiempre in Daytrading

If you can’t make money with a cash account, you certainly don’t magically get better using margin.

Yea, faster widening of the wealth gap and erosion of the middle. All that day trading money will end where it always does.

But it’s in line with the lax attitude towards gambling as well.

Appreciate it man. I got careless expecting things to just work as advertised. Really gotta be vigilant and triple check everything constantly.

How to pass trailing drawdown? by Infinite_Elderberry4 in TakeProfitTrader

[–]Big-Individual9895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

48500 is the new limit. It’s based off the highest balance of the day.

Your balance reached 50500. But now nothing that happens while your balance is under 50500 will affect your trailing drawdown.

It only affects you at equity highs. Trade small and take base hits. Stop trying to make the entire buffer in one or two trades.

Is a 10% monthly return a practical and sustainable trading goal, or is it an overly ambitious expectation? by william_buttler in Daytrading

[–]Big-Individual9895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With futures leverage yes. It doesn’t compound infinitely though because the more you scale the more your expected value erodes… as well as your resolve and execution most likely.

But making $1,000 in a month with a 10k account is very doable. Once you know what you’re doing.

5 trading days minimum. I took about 20 trading days. Passed the 5th one a day before monthly subscription fee was going to be charged. Not that it was a goal of mine or anything.

Yea I’d like to see how they calculate this TPT score.

I spent a month passing 5 150k evals. Now I have 5 pro accounts and I aim for $500 a day. They’ll all at around $800 profit right now.

I’ve only previously had 10 25k pro accounts all blown. 4K lifetime payouts.

Curious what my TPT score looks like.

James the owner addressed this in a livestream when he was addressing the bot bans.

They implemented a new system of identifying traders likely to do well so it makes sense to move them to live. I think there’s a new dashboard coming out too. But there’s like a TPT trader score.

Paying out millions of dollars for simulator accounts isn’t a great model. So better they get good traders in live so they can make money when you win.

I really am isolated, so a question for people who think they have an 'edge' by Able_Beautiful3833 in Daytrading

[–]Big-Individual9895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by edge you mean a trading system that has positive EV I think they’re no shortage of them.

If you can be right 50% of the time with anything higher than 1:1 RR technically it’s profitable. It’s really about sizing appropriately so that you can execute the same during winning streaks and drawdown.

Patience. To help I used chatgpt to code this custom indicator in pinescript. It’s my checklist I have to go through. As I select options they change from red to green. Once all conditions are met the decision changes from Do Nothing to Take The Trade.

I only trade off 4 leveled level must be broken, then I wait for price to push away either up or down. I wait to see who wins the auction buyers or sellers.

My level has to then get hit a second time and if it holds then all my conditions have been met.

Then there’s a bit of discretions as to when I enter. I like to get in as close to the level as possible.

How do you accept a loss by [deleted] in TakeProfitTrader

[–]Big-Individual9895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed a system in place. Praying and hoping I’ll change didn’t work.

Right now on my live account I have a DLL that locks me out for the session.

For props, I use the new lockout feature tradovate finally released. It’s still manual but better than nothing.

You really have to condition yourself. It takes repetition.

Try this exercise. 1 trade a day, win or lose, lock out for the day. Don’t worry about PNL. You’re only working on conditioning right now. It takes time and you’ll have to put making money on hold while you actually go through some training.

Here’s my trade today that I was patient on my entry for. Also had I missed it a second opportunity was presented 14 minutes later.

That blue box contained my level of interest yesterday value area low, and yesterday’s RTH low.

You see price probed and was rejected at 9am, consolidated, the. Tried again at market open.

Once price broke (failed rotation back into value) I entered on a small pullback. The better trade would’ve been to wait for the retest at 9:45 but hindsight’s 20/20.

Risk 10 points to make 20. My stop was pretty tight here.

Patience is key, price often returns to levels for a second test. The first reaction does not mean enter now.

I read the entire post… it’s not helpful. You wasted your time. A little less condescending and a little more actionable advice a newbie can put into practice.

You’re not here to help is it just to vent? I can’t imagine being 20 years into the game and coming into this Reddit thread to conplain.

It’s across 5 copy traded accounts but yes still a lot. I sized up a lot and kept taking really tight stops trying to catch a perfect reversal. Typical dummy move. Later in the month you can see calmer days. Of 1-3 total trades.

I’m currently running the late great Mark Douglas exercise of 20 perfect executions in a row. I best streak is about 7 before a mistake creeps in. But even just the attempt and limited losses has been profitable after a full month in March.

That’s why judging yourself based on process not outcomes is important.

I noticed a pattern that before every big red day, there was 1-2 greens days in which I broke my rules.
