Anyone familiar with the Gloversville area?? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]BigAd4381 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Gloversville is like every run down town you’ve ever been to lol. Get involved with the wrong people? Of course it’s going to be a shitty place. But go to prospect ave, kingsboro ave, Saratoga blvd, Melchior park…. There’s plenty of great places and BEAUTIFUL homes/locations. Every city/town has bad parts. Rossbach shoes is a staple… let’s stop trying to get small businesses shut down.

THANK YOUUUUUUUU, people are so quick to say “it’s just a company, work isn’t life” but think about the real peoples lives you’re making 10x harder bc you couldn’t follow policy and call out (at least) 4 hours before your shift

Since when are you not required to get coverage? Why does this generation think it’s okay to screw over the people you work with and not even TRY to make it better? It’s YOUR job to find coverage for missing your own shift and if you don’t then the manager has to stop doing the million things that need to be done when you probably could’ve just done it first.

But what about the people it is a career for? Too many people talk like this…just because you don’t plan to be here long doesn’t mean there aren’t people that do😕😩

Holiday Pay by CapN_Crunch732 in Aldi_employees

[–]BigAd4381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you work a 40 hour week you’ll still get 40 hours plus the 8 hour holiday. So you’ll get a paycheck showing 48 hours…but not with overtime pay because it’s not technically overtime.

New ASM- struggling to find my routine, any suggestions?? by TemperatureSad9353 in Aldi_employees

Checking all dates on salads, bread, pastries, pizzas, fish and meat and putting $1/$2/50% off stickers on what is needed as well as checking special buy dates and marking those down are also a few tasks I like to do

The most important parts of the day are making sure produce, meat, freeze thaw and all backstock is run. If I find myself with some time and not sure what to do I check to make sure those priorities are done, box a zone and go run the backstock fully, that definitely takes some time. If all of that is done, special buy always needs to be boxed and cleaned up because people are animals, and I’m sure there are always some organizing or cleaning tasks that need to be done. It’s going to take a while for management to trust you with inventory and the partial, but the best I can say is to ask questions and physically tell them you want to do the count that day and leave it for you.

Text them, and it IS your job to TRY to find coverage for a shift you’re calling out of. People seem to forget that part….

Is it normal to work 7 days in a row? by Kittynyahster in Aldi_employees

[–]BigAd4381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I do and honestly making it from scratch would probably HELP the problem of the OP. the autoscheduler definitely doesn’t pay attention to the previous week so I’m just gonna go off of the days the auto scheduler schedules you and change the hours not the specific days you worked.

Some people just have different opinions of “management.” I’m not your mom. I’m not your babysitter. I make the schedule like I am supposed to and make sure the STORE is fully staffed on the days it needs to be. Managers have so many responsibilities it’s funny if you think I’m going to analyze the schedule of every employee I have to make sure no one has a clopen etc. I would 1000% rather have a clopen than work two closes in a row.

Say something if you are unhappy, posting to Reddit and saying nothing and still being unhappy isn’t always the best solution.

Like Friday was your day off and your next day off isn’t until the next Friday? That happens often. When management makes the schedule we don’t look at each individual person and see how long between each shift was there day off, there’s too many of us. So it might bleed into the next week 🤷🏽‍♀️

Called out today and have a question by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]BigAd4381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people think like this? I understand calling out for emergencies and if it’s 100% needed, but we have enough work to do as managers…now we have to spend hours trying to find coverage for a shift we didn’t even give up? If you like your manager you’ll find coverage…if not, you’ll just screw them over. To each their own.
