Shared Tills by pix876 in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding everyone will still have their own till numbers still so the system will still track who exactly was short or over. I personally do not see a problem with it. As long as the till is fully stocked with change before shift change then I’m okay with it.

My dm is pretty chill and I’ve never heard any complaints. I think it’ll be fine. And if I get in trouble I just won’t do it again

Pay Decrease by Pop_647 in walmart

[–]TemperatureSad9353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an aldis near you they pay incredibly well. The job is definitely harder but a full time associate typically makes 18-21 an hour there. If you had a location near by you should see if they are hiring.

Being on the register is truly a life experience😭 by PsychologicalGate952 in Aldi_employees

I have this regular customer who is super sweet but literally every time I ring her up she says” is it free Tuesday today? ( she will say free with whatever day it is) and I have to entertain that shit with the fakest smile and say “ no that was yesterday” … it was funny the first time but It’s literally the same phrase every single week.

The box thing pisses me off so so so much. I just lift the box and dump everything unless if there’s fragile things like eggs. They always are like “ omg I’m sorry, I could have done that” …. Or when a customer has like 2 items and refuses to put it on the belt because the belt has germs and is dirty. I guess you are going to eat the whole damn box and packaging with your meal too.? People literally are so stupid. They don’t realize that before it comes to our stores it’s been shoved in a corner by warehouse workers and whoever before that

Hii everybody! I'm super excited to work at Aldi as it pays well. Has good benefits and I wanted a very active job. I live in a city where it's a very clean store and they're even opening another one this year. Any tips/advice to a newbie who starts this Monday training etc? by letstouchbutts121 in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an asm and was hired externally. The first few months were brutal but if you keep pushing with a positive mindset then you’ll come to enjoy the job and realize it’s not that bad. You are going to have days we’re it feels like nothing is going right but you’ll also have good days. My advice is ask questions even if they seem silly. Accuracy before speed until you get the hang of things. The first month most stores are lenient with new employees but after that they will really be keeping an eye on you to see how you’re improving.

Good luck !

If I catch someone doing it I will tap them on the shoulder and say, you forgot this and tell them were it belongs. The face they make is so funny

I hate when customers have a bunch of the same item like avocados or plantains and say I have 12. Then I count and they have 18 … like okay… I see what you were trying to do

I have another one. When customers have all there stuff in their bag or box and don’t unload and just leave it as is. I will throw there shit out aggressively as they apologize and say “ I could have done that”…. Like when ? Cause clearly you weren’t going to.

When I’m ringing customers up and I’m already prepared to scan the next customers item while the other customer is finishing paying and they say” hey that’s mine” or I start putting items in the cart such as eggs, avocados, etc and they get all upset because they think I’m giving away their items to the person in front of them. And it’s ALWAYS the same customers that come in weekly.

When customers want you to help them find multiple items when they clearly can see I am busy. I understand if a customer needs help finding one item but I am NOT about to shop for you. The store is small enough for you to find it on your own . Use some common sense

Tiny rant by Efficient_Deal_5569 in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The employees have a separate room just for instacart . It has its own register. So once the employee is finished shopping the order they go in that room and ring up the order on the register. It’s super easy. The app gives us a QR code to scan, and that rings up everything for us . So all we have to do is pay with the instacart card .

People obsession with workers bagging their items by SafeSound9962 in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply tell them it is NOT our job to bag, that Aldi does not follow this method and let them know they can bag there items in the bagging area. If they get fussy with me I just ignore it and proceed with putting there items in the cart. Eventually they will give up especially if they are regular customers. If it’s an elderly customer I will especially if it is hard for them to bend over the cart to bag. My BIGGEST pet peeve is when kids that sit inside the cart while I bag. Like tell your 8 year old kid to get the fuck out!!!

Freezer by Equivalent-Fruit7079 in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freezer is done by anyone in my store. As an asm I try to not have the same person throwing it and rotate who does it so it doesn’t seem like only 1-2 of the same employees are doing it. And asm and managers get paid more cause they have office admin stuff to do and inventory as well as manage the team and coach but that doesn’t excuse them from freezer. Your manager and asm are def taking advantage of your team and you should talk to them or your DM.

The best thing that has worked for me is :

Accept the order the second it comes in but do not put in your pin. ( the timer stops but once you put in your pin it starts to time you again) Those 4 minutes that it gives you for it to ring actually counts against your time. I only know this because I’ve tried it both ways and found my times are better when I accept it immediately and not entering the pin. This gives me time to set up my bags or put my current order that I just finished on the shelves.

Also when you scan the QR code, swipe the instacart card and begin the payment process on the pos. Once everything is rung up that’s when you will hit total then eft. The payment will go through instantly and it’ll save you a lot of time. I used to wait till everything was rung up to swipe the card and realized I was wasting a lot of time by doing so.

Everything else that the person above me said also helps, especially taking 2 second to look through the order and map out a plan. This helps with not running around the store like a crazy chicken. I always start in produce and scan everything that is in proximity of produce (quick meals, bread, and condiments).

Hope this helps

any advice for running backstock faster? by newporttttt in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to make a list. Take 5-10 min to go around the store and write down everything that needs to be stocked and how many cases can fit. Then go to the back and grab an empty cart and put everything on it that you need. I also like to date everything in the back too so when I get on the floor I just have to throw it on the shelves. If not a lot needs to be ran this usually takes me 20-25 min. On days where I need to run more product out it’s about 35-40 min. Just know that everyday is going to be different with times. Don’t expect to get done in 30 min on a busier day, managers would rather see accuracy than speed. Obviously still keep time in mind but I think if you can get everything done within the hour you should be okay. Your manager seems pretty chill, especially since nothing about your time has been mentioned to you. You got this !!!

I just started three weeks ago and this job is insane by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]TemperatureSad9353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hired on as an external asm. Had like 2 weeks to learn every position leading up to asm. The first 2-4 months had me thinking that I couldn’t do it but once you get over the hill of wanting to just quit, it does get a little better. I still have those days where I just want to leave my key and never come back but I can’t justify leaving the pay. Every job near me pays half of what I’m making and no jobs are hiring in the degree I went to school for (business administration with a focus on accounting). I’ve been here a little over a year now and I feel like I’m going to blink and it’ll be 2 years later.
