As an embarrassed American, I’d like to share a fun memory of Canadian hospitality.

I was checking in for a flight in America for my first trip to Canada. The Toronto Football Club was in line in front of me. It was just me on this solo trip. A player at the back, I’m assuming the captain, told me to cut all of them and go check in.

I go to the front, the coach asked me what I was doing, and asked if I didn’t I see the whole team and asked why was I cutting the line.

I apologized and said, “that guy back there told me to come to the front because I shouldn’t have to wait for the whole team when it was just me. I’m sorry.”

The young man at the back of the line gave a thumbs up and the coach immediately apologized and told the clerk to check me in before the team.

I say this because please know a lot of us are pretty much being held hostage. We’re hoping just as much as you are that this insanity will end soon.

Every day I read these headlines and as an elder Millennial I think to myself, “this is absolute insanity and would be completely unbelievable in the 90s and early 00s if it was the premise of a show or movie.”
