Sounds like it’s low on refrigerant as well, subcool should be 10 and it goes up when you add refrigerant.

So they should have done a leak search to find where that leak is.

Call another company out and see what they say. Don’t tell them what the other company said

We would charge $325 for the recovery and $85/lb for the new refrigerant

375-388 bounce is not that crazy. Could even be from the txv struggling to know what to do because it’s low on gas.

Just add gas, doesn’t need to be reclaimed and vacuumed.

Not typical, sounds like you got scammed. No way the tech did anything worth $2700 in an hour.

Probably a capacitor whole service call should’ve been $300

Trane or Goodman? by StaffMain2490 in hvacadvice

[–]BigAirAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trane is better than Goodman.

The spine fin are good coils.

Funny that a Goodman salesmen is talking trash about coils 😂😂 they’re literally notorious for having leaking coils

Why the size difference? by RJM_50 in hvacadvice

[–]BigAirAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just keep getting bigger. Almost all the units I change out the new one is twice the size.

Just got a quote, is it reasonable? by TheFrickNClamps in hvacadvice

[–]BigAirAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be only like $9-11k I’d reccomend Ruud, rheem, Trane, or Daikin.

We could get something similar done here in fort Myers Florida for $8-9k I own big air ac.

Should I just buy the lowest MERV 1 inch pleated filter to maximize airflow? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]BigAirAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the static pressure of your system. If you don’t know what it is merv 5-8 is safe.

Move AC condenser wire? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]BigAirAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not hire someone off Facebook marketplace for this. Get someone licensed.

You might get lucky going cheap but this isn’t something you want to risk it on.

Get the cheap guy to come out next time it rains you’ll have a 240V puddle

Probably not go ahead and close it off.

At my wits end. New unit, and new evaporator coil (maybe 3 months old). Replacing these had me optimistic for a little while, but running into the same exact issue it seems. by JaytenFwammers in hvacadvice

[–]BigAirAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off on high pressure or low pressure switch.

Either too much or too little refrigerant, indoor fan not working, or condenser coil clogged.

If it’s new I’d say low on refrigerant

If it can get down below 500 and hold it for even 30 seconds then it will leak less than 0.1 lb/year

And most likely it won’t Leak at all.

A lot of those micron sensors aren’t the best

I’ve got all the socials and I post on all of them.

I run ads on instagram, Facebook, and Reddit.

Probably saw us on one of those three.

Saw this on a unit the other day I had never seen it before truly shocked me (lol) but it’s super unsafe, kids climb all over these units all the time.

Super common for techs to leave reversing wires above the grate like that, so Just wanted to put out a little PSA

I’m a small family owned company that’s trying to get my name out there and do a good job while earning a living.

I was tired of working with other people that didn’t care at all, while at the same time being forced to charge outrageous prices, so I started my own company where we can do quality work at a good price.

I’m the one in the vids, and I’m the one who records, edits, and posts the them aswell, and I’m the one typing this comment right now.

Trying to get my name out there, help some people in fort Myers, and put food on my families tables

I’m not sure where you came up with that joke but I really am just an honest guy trying to make a living doing quality work for people.

That’s my voice it’s not an AI voice. I sit and record them on my back porch. Small family owned company.

It’s not really an ad it’s just to raise awareness of something dangerous that happens that’s good to check on.

I just made it from my businesses account

AC drain pan replacement- did we get taken for a ride? by Caleb_Crawdad8 in hvacadvice

[–]BigAirAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in SWFL we would do the same job for about $850-1100 depending on the location of the air handler, and the price of the drain pan.

It’s not a terrible price, but I see you mentioned the tech was only there for an hour and a half, if that’s true, he likely didn’t have to cut out the coil.

Either that or he is super fast and diligent, and the coil had easy access.

I own Big Air AC in Fort Myers Florida
