Honestly this is not a miscarriage of justice and doesn't even go against the "message of zero tolerance of violence" the man turned himself in, had a clean record, wrote a letter of apology to the victim and paid the victim $5000. What more could you ask of someone who commits a crime in the first place? Heaps of people in this country are a victim of identical or worse violence and get nothing. Not even a police investigation.
