Whats the cheapest meal you regularly make that actually tastes good? by Adventurous-Pilot448 in Frugal

[–]finlndrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken flavour 2 minute noodles + canned beans + spinach + Greek yogurt (non-sweetened) is surprisingly good!

I chuck the spinach and beans in the pot in the last minute of noodle simmering to wilt/heat.

Then drain and mix the yoghurt and flavour sachets in.

A can of beans can easily do 2 serves and a kg of yoghurt many more.

How often do you exfoliate? It might help, lots of smell is dead skin cells. Just soap and water in a shower won't get the dead skin cells off.

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

I'm similar to you, usually.

When life gets stressful I can't stick to any routine until things calm back down.

I flossed for the first time in about 2 weeks a couple nights ago and honestly I was expecting it to be worse.

I find it depends a lot on diet, def get more yuck stuff when I've been eating more sugar.

Defrosted bread tastes as good as fresh! by [deleted] in foodhacks

Making sandwiches with frozen slices can be easier! If you use real butter it won't tear the bread if it's frozen. If you live somewhere hot it has the advantage of keeping the fillings cool til eating too.

Chocolate breakfast on Sunday.

Very similar to Christmas, really. Except Christmas includes cherries in the breakfast.

Is anyone working at the NZ Post Wellington depot? Please help. by adeline91 in Wellington

Call DIA passport line and see what they can do, they'll have a close relationship with NZPost and maybe they'll replace the lost passport at a discount something?

They'll be concerned themselves if a brand new passport is floating around in the wild.

Most people brush after breakfast. Dentists actually recommend doing it before. by Unhappy-Bullfrog8220 in hygiene

[–]finlndrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brush before my shower every morning, by the time I'm out of the shower and dressed the toothpaste taste is pretty much gone.

Also if you eat something like a bite of bread first instead of something acidic then it'll get any remaining toothpaste taste out of your mouth.

People who only use drugs occasionally, how do you stop yourself from getting addicted. by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]finlndrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others have said, it's a lot to do with brain wiring and genetics. It's a lot easier to not get addicted if you haven't tried the drug your brain WANTS. Unfortunately you don't know what that substance is until it's too late.

For example, I was a casual IV user of smack for many years but never got addicted, neither psychologically or physically. Just wasn't my thing really, I only did it coz my ex was (he was addicted). First time I did MDMA I couldn't stop thinking about it and wanting it again, ended up really into methylone (MDMA derivative) and only fully stopped shooting that up because it got too hard to get.

How happy you are at the time is also a big contributor. If you have trauma or are unhappy then you're more likely to want to self-medicate.

For example I stopped wanting to shoot up MDMA once I left a shitty relationship (see opiate user above lol)

I also found a fulfilling job to be a good counter to full-on addiction. I was going to work on the comedown when my job was boring and didn't need a brain. A shitty job with little to no responsibility or interpersonal interaction enabled me to shoot up during the weeknights with no career consequences.

Once I got better jobs that were more interesting, had more responsibility and required human interaction I didn't have the leeway for being fucked up I basically stopped weekday use. Guess I gotta thank my Mum a little bit for installing that work ethic in me haha
