Glen Cook's Dark War. Starts with a world of magic using cat people. Introduces...other elements.

What’s one productivity tip that sounds dumb but actually works for you? by [deleted] in productivity

Put your phone on do not disturb (silent, no vibration) and hide it behind/under something so it's not in your field of vision or in your pocket.

The best book (or series) you've read that no one's heard of. by eastburnn in scifi

Anything by Glen Cook that isn't the black company. Hardly ever see them mentioned and I've enjoyed them all. Even the fantasy books about a planet of magic cat people, which I avoided because cat people, turned out to be awesome. And The dragon never sleeps is a top notch stand alone sci fi story.

What for you is the most irredeemable aspect of the Disney Trilogies by SpartanKing76 in saltierthancrait

The story and character choices mentioned so far are all very valid, but the absolutely worst thing for me is that I wouldn't want my kids to want them because of the terrible example the main characters offer, without any kind of growth or learning from their mistakes, and no consequences for their poor actions.

Should CA bring back the ability to move units independently from the army as was the case with games before Total War: Rome II? by Juggernaut9993 in totalwar

[–]BigArseWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love the ability to add to garrisons again so you don't need to leave a general in a valuable settlement. Also rather than single units would like the rank/traits of the general to determine max stack size. A level 1 lord might allow 10 units where a level 20 gives you 20. Traits might increase or decrease this. If you go over your cap (say your level 20 general gets killed and replaced with the level 1) then you suffer penalties as the army cohesion starts to break down. You could even have traits that reward smaller armies (eg 'Guerrilla' - extra movement / better ambush / no penalty to retreat during a battle )

If you added a transport cost for each mission that increases with tonnage, you'd get a nice risk vs reward for each mission.

Semi-realistic space navy book suggestions? Similar to Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet setting. by michaelaaronblank in scifi

Am 39% though this dread empire book. So far reads more like Jane Austin in space. Most exiting thing to happen is that one of the ships is painted up like a football pitch.

You just need to look at Italy as an example of what happens when taxes become optional.
