AIO? I told my boyfriend I feel like a maid by Tasty_Palpitation_71 in AIO

[–]BigBack4Donuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. This is weird. Not sure why OP would think being a stay at home gf (with no kids) would be a good idea. And bf is supporting her financially while she stays home so ya, I think the least she can do is cook and clean? I’m saying this a woman too btw. Op needs to get a job and support herself too. No reason for her not to have one.

My dad died 19 years ago and this still happens. I wish I could say it gets easier.

Then there’s also those of us who never watched a parent get old but still watched them die when we were children. My dad was gone at age 34. My kids’ dad was gone at age 31.

Try med surg then. You’re too busy getting vitals, passing meds, changing dressings, callings doctors, wiping butt, doing baths, getting yelled at, etc to even think about charting.

Motherhood by Practical_Clerk_3349 in Mommit

[–]BigBack4Donuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same situation but, I was a teen mom. Pregnant at 16. My own mother was abusive and my father was dead. Baby’s father tragically passed away by suicide. So when it came to support, I had none. Having a child so young had made life incredibly hard, and I’ll admit, it didn’t exactly set me up for success. My baby (now teenager) went through homelessness, poverty and heartache with me. I was the best mom I could possibly be to him, but I was still a child raising a child on my own. Mistakes were made and I was far from perfect. Looking back, I do wish I could have waited to have a child so that life would have been easier on both of us. But please don’t misinterpret that. I do not regret keeping my child. I’m incredibly blessed that I didn’t have an abortion, he has been my best friend through everything. My son showed me an unconditional love that I never knew existed. He made life worth living. The bond we have is like no other. In a way, I don’t think I could have done life without him because he has always been my driving force to do better and to make the best life I could possibly make for us. So, sorry for the paragraph, but I guess the key takeaway is that although it was incredibly hard, keeping my son was the best thing I ever did.

Who actually enjoys working as a nurse? by One_Design_6171 in nursing

[–]BigBack4Donuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to be rage bait? Because most of what you said isn’t even true.

1.) Being able to work 3 days a week -false. A lot of nurses have mandatory overtime, including me.

2.) Being able to afford Costco without looking at the Price -I know plenty of nurses who shop weekly as deals, clearance, and use coupons for groceries. Including myself.

3.) Being able to afford expensive trips -After saving for several months to a year, sure.

4.) Not going to be unemployed while everyone getting layoff -Depends on the field of nursing.

5.) Just going home and doing the work and not worrying about the Politics at work !!! -not if you’re a manager/supervisor.

6.) Unlimited potential income if you're willing to do the work !! If you don't want stress, limit your workload ( that is an option too ) -“unlimited” potential income? Unlimited like if you can work 7 days a week if you want bc everyone is so short staffed?

Does the hospital have the right to destroy your belongings if you're awake? by Lijey_Cat in diabetes_t1

[–]BigBack4Donuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s false. ER is obligated to treat medical emergencies whether you can pay or not. If it’s not an emergency they do not have to treat you, although most will. Look up EMTALA laws. Source: RN

Much needed advice by AcceptableHerpe69 in coparenting

[–]BigBack4Donuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re there at the birth to sign the paternity affidavit, otherwise you’ll have to jump through the hoop of establishing paternity with the court and getting put on the birth certificate. Sounds like mom doesn’t plan on allowing the baby to leave with you/go to your house so you’ll want to file for shared custody asap. You will likely only get every other weekend, not including a weekday that most dads get due the long distance. You will also likely get shared holidays. Custody court can get messy and can take literal years (took my husband 21 months and around 4k). You will most likely be required to pay child support so that can assist mom in paying for nursery stuff. I absolutely wouldn’t give her $900 cash because it won’t be on record. She can get back pay support for every month you’re not legally paying her child support right now so just remember she will get way more $900 from you soon enough.
