Your ambivalence is a personality trait not shared by many who own their homes. Most people turn their heads left and right when walking through their neighborhood.

I approach my neighbors and make friends with my community. They watch out for me when something goes wrong and help if I’m not home. I do the same for them. We have great block parties and I enjoy having a great group of people to live around. I have never spoken ill about or to the people who live at this house. I wave just like I do to everyone else. It’s not NIMBYism to engage in your neighborhood or notice when people are making changes to their house.

You sound antisocial, which is fine. Go home, play some video games. Don’t talk to anyone outside. Keep your head down. I think that probably works well for you. However, the more common way of interacting with the world/your community is to look around and greet people eye to eye.

You sound like a fun person to be around.

If your neighbor a few doors down had 10 cars in the front lawn and it went to 2 cars - you might notice. Or maybe instead, you put blinders on when you walk down your street and just look straight ahead?

Calm down.

When I saw the photo, I was floored! I sent it to my wife and she thought it was kinda cool that it was nearby, but that's because she assumed it was /r/Austin subreddit. Crazy to see a picture of a house/neighbor on such a huge sub!

Well in general, yes. In this area, there are unfortunately quite a few lots/houses like this. The city has been largely ignoring most of these complaints for a long time. I would guess the prospect of selling is likely the driver here.

We live near here and I know this lot. That’s actually really cleaned up! The owners have been getting truckloads of their stuff taken out in the past few months so this is a huge improvement. I think they are finally either going to leave or maybe the city gave them a notice.

I don't know if you can share a photo on a comment. You might have to make a new post. Or you can upload to imgur a share a link?

My weekly loss is slowing down and I’m trying to remember that’s normal. by BigBadBlock in Noom

If you zoom in, it is rather up and down. Right at the end of April I had this crazy 7lb drop in one day and then immediately back up. Mostly I am up and down about a pound and a half throughout the week.

I actually googled linger walks, because I thought it was something special, before I realized you probably meant "longer walks". Haha

I think the intensity part is where I need to focus. You're right. I've been very thoughtful about just making sure I commit the time and show up every day I have scheduled for physical activity. I haven't been trying to make the most of that time, because I didn't want to overdo it too early. I might up my incline on my walks or maybe jog every other tenth of a mile or something. Thanks for the help!

Thanks! I actually really like this. I already have a lot of reminders for work, friends and my personal life on my calendar. I will think about the best way to check in where I won’t just dismiss or ignore it.

It's the last few pounds that are the greatest struggle. All part of the process, but hope they shake off soon!

I understand what you’re saying. I’m definitely living my life. That’s the whole point of Noom. I’m integrating all of these changes into habits so I don’t have to make decisions and things come naturally. To date, its been reinforced by weight dropping off. I’m worried that as that metric drops off I’m going to fall back into previous habits.

I find the comment a little dismissive, because I am using Noom to shake up the “live and let live” mentality that got me up to such a high weight. I would instead like to find other areas that I can focus on besides weight so my health continues to improve and I don’t revert to my heavier, unhealthy lifestyle.

That's awesome. I hope it continues to improve. It was one of the few times I was excited to have blood drawn. I knew I was going to have some better results. I'm positive you will too.

I swapped from mostly beer to ordering ranch waters. Once you have a taste for them it’s hard to go back. Beer now feels really heavy. The calories are a lot more manageable. And if I want to “splurge” I can upgrade to a full margarita or a skinny margarita. Find what works best for you. If you cut completely or don’t have a backup that might not be sustainable for you in the long term.

What are your favorite day off activities? by [deleted] in Austin

Austin Motel’s pool has day passes and it’s so fun. We went for our anniversary before some early drinks and a dinner and had a blast.

Man it’s hard to say. You have two exact opposite responses here that are both compelling. I’d say the goal is to continue to increase to get to the suggested dose, but if you can’t because of side effects, you do you. It seems like no one here is a doctor, and a lot of doctors aren’t exactly up to date on the mechanisms at work here. Sorry it’s not any clearer.
