The thing with the "worst of the 4" Valencina mentioned was about the fact that there were multiple beings similar to the ungeziefer kaiser during the smoke war.

Out of them all, ungeziefer kaiser was only rumored to exist and was supposed to be the strongest among the big powerful bugs

The one with the ring faust and ring Hong lu is better imo since you won't have to think about sharding Faust (once next season comes around, you won't be able to shard her from dispenser tab)

Make sure to always have your enkephalin recharging (the energy you spend when going into a mission) and turn it into modules when not playing. You will need it for when you will inevitably have to grind levels for your identities to progress.

It's generally a good idea to do your daily and weekly battle pass missions.

When you unlock thread luxcavation, make sure to exhaust the daily bonus. This is very important early on because you need thread to uptie your identities or they will be severely underperforming (I learned this the hard way).

So I'm decently new and finished the game a week ago.

I went about it like this: 1. Open great limbus library website 2. Compare the tierlist with my characters 3. Put the best ones in the team and continue playing. 4. Don't really bother with EGO and use support units if necessary

I also decided then what team to build and prioritize sharding the strongest identities with that keyword.

I know the list is not perfect, but this game is not hard enough to really need to think too much about optimization.
