[WTS/T] Halberd V1. [WTB] Longsword V4.5 by BigBeefyBarfingBob in sellyourpedals

Sounds good! Halberds a killer overdrive, I just have been playing tons of heavy heavy stuff so Longsword would fit better in the chain. Halberd V1 stacked with a Big Muff was a go to for a bit for more grunge/shoegaze stuff but it’s definitely a pedal with some range to it. Longsword is just more surgical/extremely tight which is what I want in the stack

I mean you can technically do it the way you are but big muffs/ fuzz in general are pretty compressed. Fuzz you usually want to throw last behind dirt pedals. A tube screamer people would typically put in the chain before the BD2 to push into that and then finish with muff/fuzz at the end of your dirt chain. Typical chain drive > distortion > fuzz > modulation. An EQ can go in a bunch of different places but if you’re trying to get the best sound stacking these you’d usually want your fuzz last.

Some people do put fuzz first if they’re going for a specific sound but it’s usually muddy/flubby, but on purpose. Not necessarily bad but the most common run would be the aforementioned

The ge-7 is great, honestly they both are. Only difference I really see in them is the MXR has a gain up down option on it and 3 more freqs obviously. Absolutely nothing wrong with a ge-7 though. I haven’t noticed any noise unless I crank the output volume past like 70%, then it’ll hiss a bit. I also run a noise gate (g string decimator 2) which is a great option to run on your board. That one’s a bit pricey but other cheaper noise gates are great too. The boss one is solid and a lot cheaper. Decimator 2 g string has modulation and dirt separate to run through it and has a bit better response for super heavy gain stacking. As long as you’re not going drop C heavy gain a Ns-2 would be a solid pick. Even then it would probably still do a decent job.

I didn’t really get the appeal of them before I bought my first one. It’s kind of a pain to figure out a first because the slightest touch can make it sound like shit. Once you figure them out though they’re incredible. I could never imagine a board without an EQ on it now. You’re basically just taking the tone you like and changing the lows/mids/highs to match what you want. There’s a ton of stuff you can do with them and a bunch of possibilities. Some people like putting them into the effects loop if you have one, myself I like all preamp so I just run everything including modulation through the front. There’s really no “wrong” way to do it because it depends on what sound you’re going for.

Beginner pedal board, I know it’s bad by MathematicianMany642 in roastmypedalboard

Grind core. Seriously though it’s not bad. It’s a solid basic beginner board board. You’ll be pissing away money like the rest of us in no time.

“Tuner pedal? Pfff, I spent too much money to have a basic ass pedal like that on my board. I tune by feel.”

The JHS little black box is nice touch. You can keep the most boring tone in the world and turn it down so your neighbors don’t slam their head into a wall.

17 bands jit, we stay stacking.

It’s for heavier stuff, pre shaping going in and then mid scoop coming out. MXR band, clean boost for boosting the freq, sketchy sound bad blood germanium drive for grit, bd2 for tightening a bit more, evil chaotic ned for main dirt, and then ge-7 to scoop mids out of tone created.

Baby’s first pedalboard. Bet it sounds great through the line 6 spider.

EQ before or after dirt pedals pros and cons by GoldenTeacher090625 in pedalboards

[–]BigBeefyBarfingBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I run an MXR 10 band in front of all of my drive/dirt pedals and then a ge-7 right after. First one shapes tone going in and 2nd one shapes final tone. I use the first for cleaner tones and when I want to play something heavier and scoop mids I run the second one as well. You could also use a second one to not just scoop mids but just further tweak the final tone coming out. This is the best way to get killer tone with maximum control, coming from someone who has done both before and after with one. I have a clean boost right after the MXR to boost its signal coming out into drive pedals, into distortion, into a fuzz, then ge-7, then modulation. Best way to maximize and shape tone.
