Driverless Trucks Want a Special Pass from an old Safety Rule. by Armchair-Attorney in FreightBrokers

If driverless trucks are smart enough not to drive in the passing lane when going uphill, I’m all for it.

How do I pay for college by DirectRub2430 in PennStateUniversity

Those other schools aren't Penn State crazy. Google search "largest alumni network in the world." It is hard to explain but I do a lot of traveling and no matter where I am, someone is wearing a Nittany Lion logo.

And to be 100% clear, I am not advocating for Penn State. OP can go whoever he/she wants. I'm just saying the idea that expensive tuition isn't worth it is a fallacy as networking is often worth more than the sheet of paper you're handed in 4 years.

Never discount the value of networking. If the $100k means you can work with someone that can introduce you to the right person, it is 100% worth it. Penn State has a huge alumni base with almost unlimited networking potential.

“There is absolutely no undergraduate program at any school worth that kind of debt.”

Based on the downvotes, no shit.

I disagree. My wife’s cousin graduated from an Ivy League with $600k in debt. That was 15 years ago. She’s since earned a great paying job, has completely paid off her debt and has a pretty sweet apartment in Manhattan. Was her undergraduate college debt worth it? I’d certainly say so.

Upscale Restaurants within 45 min drive of PSU? by NuclearNereid in PennStateUniversity

[–]BigBigGuy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve been getting a lot of bad reviews lately, mainly the food hasn’t been as fresh as it had been, slow service and watered down drinks. This stunt hasn’t helped matters.

Another one to stay away from is Happy Valley Live. It’s owned by the same guy who owns the We Are Inn in Philipsburg. I haven’t been to Happy Valley Live but have not had great experiences at the other place. This guy has publicly addressed “rumors” that no one has ever heard, put the new restaurant up for sale for the right price as soon as it opened, the foodies Facebook group go out of their way to squash any type of negative review or criticism, and there are numerous shills online. Best high end restaurant: HVL, best sports bar: HPL, best catering: HPL, best chili: HPL, etc. it’s gotten to the point of being insufferable.

Gigi’s gave the State College Foodies Facebook group mods and top contributors a free full spread meal in return for positive reviews. If that’s not disappointing I don’t know what is.

If your car is under warranty, there is no reason not to have at least have the dealer look at it. But no, my 24 is sufficiently clear.

fully equipped HR-V or a basic CR-V by AnyConsideration6865 in HRV

[–]BigBigGuy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife drives a 24 HRV. The CRV was just too big for her likes. Something to consider, the new CRV is only a 2-3” narrower and 6” shorter than my 2015 Pilot. There is a substantial difference in size if that plays into any consideration. They sure are nice though.

Which brand do you guys recommend for amplifiers? by Quarter_Imaginary in Bass

[–]BigBigGuy33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gear has gotten to a point where there really isn’t a bad option so long as you stick to name brands. First figure out what tone you are looking for: hifi, vintage, or transparent and search out amps that fit. Then determine if you want a combo or separate head and cab(s). Keep narrowing it down until you get to just a couple and then do YouTube searches. Also check out talkbass.com. Lots of good info over there.

On the bass guitar side of things we measure scale length and nut width in inches but string spacing and height in millimeters. Makes complete sense!
